All too often organisations think they know what's best for individuals with a disability. The Chester and District Federation of the Blind is different. It is an organisation run by and for people who are blind or partially sighted. We want to ensure that the Charity continues to meet the needs of people with a visual impairment and with this in mind our constitution demands that at least 50% of our trustees must be either blind or partially sighted. The management at Vue cinema, Cheshire Oaks, are in agreement that something had to be done to help visually impaired people to have the same enjoyment as others. The management agree that many visually impaired people miss out on visiting the cinema and felt that providing our members with headphones to enable everybody to enjoy the whole of the picture through audio description was a great idea. They have set aside a cinema room and a morning for us especially so that all our members can enjoy the film.

Isually Impaired Endeavours in Wrexham. In Wrexham, we have a collection of clubs which have called themselves 'VIEW': V. Affiliated to CDFB, 'VIEW' attends trustee meetings so we are well connected and as well as hosting their own visits and events, can benefit from those provided by CDFB. The group. Run a talking book club using e-software 'Calibre' and meet monthly for lunch in the Nag's Head Pub (located in Haughton, near Tarporley) where members can enjoy each other's company over a leisurely meal.
