Cedar & Sand: June 2014
http://cedarandsand.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 27, 2014. Boulder Mountain and Capitol Reef. Utah's Capitol Reef can be overcrowded over Memorial Day weekend. It's a good thing we know all of the secret spots to get away from the crowds! A few images from a recent family trip to the area:. Single Tree Falls on Boulder Mtn. Ava watches clouds float over Boulder Mountain's Happy Valley. A favorite swimming hole: Upper Calf Creek Falls. View from the top of the falls. Hector negotiates the log jam in the Goosenecks of Sulfur Creek. Delightfu...
Cedar & Sand: A Grandview atop the Wasatch's City Creek Canyon
http://cedarandsand.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-grandview-atop-wasatchs-city-creek.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. A Grandview atop the Wasatch's City Creek Canyon. The final push to 9410' Grandview Peak. Looking north, the Sessions Mountains in the mid-distance, Bountiful Peak (right) and Great Salt Lake (left) in far distance. My paved road-bike part of the route took me up through Memory Grove, across Bonneville Boulevard, and on up City Creek Canyon to as far as the road was plowed (about a 1/4 mile past the water treatment plant at 5480'). Here, I stashed the bike and changed into ...

Friday, February 27, 2015. Afoot in San Fransisco. A week in December in San Francisco for work. What else to do outside of the 8-5 meetings? A whole lot of running of course. Mornings down by the Bay, evenings around downtown, and an early morning trip to Mt Tam, the birthplace of mountain biking. Sunrise over San Francisco Bay near Ghirardelli Square. The Rock: Alcatraz Island. Hill repeats on the famous Lombard Street, the "crookedest street in the world". Grant Avenue in San Francisco's Chinatown.
Cedar & Sand: March 2015

Friday, March 20, 2015. Big Time Climb: Payback on Mount Charleston. Five years ago I had an epic day on 12,000-foot Mount Charleston. Defeated- after 20 miles and 8,000 feet of vertical- I retreated and wondered if I'd ever muster up enough motivation to tackle Charleston again. But for what ever reason, when I got back to my car and looked back at the mountain, I knew for certainty that I'd be back. Bristlecone forest near the summit ridge. This was by far the most difficult part where the route as...
Cedar & Sand: October 2013
http://cedarandsand.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 23, 2013. The Citadel, Muley Point, and Leprechaun Slot. Muley Point on the south edge of Cedar Mesa. Hector photo. The highlights of day 2 of our trip to Cedar Mesa included short hikes to ruins in Road Canyon, and a quick trip to the Goosenecks of the San Juan and Muley Point. The biggest surprise at Fallen Roof were these negative hand prints on the ceiling. Very cool. The narrow path to the Citadel ruin in Road Canyon. With clear views in all directions and a single entrance th...

No Name for a Blog. A personal blog concerning me and the stuff I do. Monday, August 25, 2014. Black and White in Color Country. I was all excited to relocate to southern Utah, partially because of the desert and red rock scenery. It makes for some pretty photos, but here I am posting black and white. Some times the stark contrast of black versus white adds for more drama, the photo comes out as I see it in my mind's eye. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Other Wyomingite in Korea.

No Name for a Blog. A personal blog concerning me and the stuff I do. Monday, August 25, 2014. Bye to the Badger. The next morning, after dropping Walter off at work, I decided to drive for a bit and look around. I put on my signal to turn left but it shut off. That's nothing big; turning signals just click off at times, but this time I took it as a sign and turned right. That's what eventually lead me to her body. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://bigbadboonis.blogspot.com/2013/08/straddling-and-leaning.html
No Name for a Blog. A personal blog concerning me and the stuff I do. Sunday, August 18, 2013. In the past I've been able to straddle the two cultures of Korea and and America. When we boomeranged back to the states to visit during vacations, it was easy to dismiss anything we didn't like, remarking, "Well, I actually live in Korea." In Korea it was the same way. When there was any cultural difference, we could always say, "I'm glad I'm American.". Definitely something you don't see in Korea. Imagine tha...

On a Sunday walk, Kat, Gavin, and I happened up on a small park with tons of butterflies. Upon closer inspection, I saw that there were cocoons peppered on all the trees, lamp posts, and rails in the park. I ran back home and grabbed my camera to get a few shots. Here's one of the best.
