Coastal and Estuarine Ecosystems and Modeling. With support from both NOAA and Dominion LNG, Inc., the Harris Lab recently embarked on efforts to monitor changes in wetlands along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. We are especially interested in answering the following questions:. How much nitrogen and sediments are removed by tidal wetlands in the coastal plain and how should this influence our prioritization of stream and stormwater restoration/management in these watersheds?

Coastal and Estuarine Ecosystems and Modeling. Hall Creek watershed is a major tributary to the Lower Patuxent River within Calvert County. Stream bank erosion resulting from increases in impervious surfaces in the watershedhas led to poor water quality in most of Calvert Country streams. This is true even in very heavily wooded watersheds. The goal of this project is to reduce nutrient and sediment pollution in Hall Creek and the Patuxent River. The project objectives are as follows:.
