Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Give It Away Now. Announced today that Celera Genomics. The private company that was part of the race to sequence the human genome. Will allow free access to its DNA sequence data via the National Center for Biotechnology Information. Celera had been trying to sell access to this information, for use in drug discovery and other potentially profitable ventures, but, as you can see from a chart of their stock price. Not when the Human Genome Project. Posted by William at 1:23 PM.

The genomes of more than 180 organisms have been sequenced since 1995. The Quick Guide includes descriptions of these organisms and has links to sequencing centers and scientific abstracts. See the Complete List of Organisms. Written by Kate Ruder and Edward R. Winstead. Created for GNN by Mary S. Gibbs. Sequenced by: National Institute of Technology and Evaluation. Image: Y. Saturday, May 22, 2010. Craig Venter creates synthetic life form. Craig Venter and his team have built the genome of a bacterium from scratch and incorporated it into a cell to make what they call the world's first synthetic life form. Thursday 20 May 2010 17.42 BST. Genetic entrepreneur Craig Venter explains how his team of researchers created a new life form – and what happens next. Video: Science Link to this video. However critics, including some religious groups, condemned the work, with one organis...

OMNOME: June 2007
http://omnomescience.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 30, 2007. Sorry it has been so long since our last post. This has been a very crazy week for me that I can most aptly describe with a quote from Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters when he described ". Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria. Anyways, I am glad the week is over. We hope to get back to more regular posting again. Series and we have the post that I am about to write. So what am I talking about here? What is the big news? Mycoides) into a population of a ...

http://watson-steitz.blogspot.com/2008/10/blog-post_19.html
