Beware of Greeks Bearing Knitted Objects. May 5th, 2009 at 12:04 AM. The car has been reserved, the housing has finally been worked out. The plane tickets were purchased a while ago. I guess this means I'm off to Colorado! I'll be playing Mahler's Eighth Symphony with the Colorado Mahlerfest. But since rehearsals won't be more than two and a half hours a day, I get to play tourist! Apr 2nd, 2009 at 1:56 PM. Good news: I'll be staying in the area for quite a while! Auditions - Beware of Greeks Bearing Knitted Objects

http://cellogirl418.livejournal.com/127204.html

Beware of Greeks Bearing Knitted Objects. Jun 24th, 2009 at 11:40 AM. So there are very few cello auditions in the US. So few, in fact, that I am planning on taking an audition in CANADA next fall. (Actually, I'm kind of excited about that one because it's for an opera orchestra, which would just be the best thing ever.). It would be foolish of me to pass this opportunity up, so please disregard everything I have said in the past of not wanting to play in a military band. 1 comment Leave a comment.

Yikes! - I'm just the middleman.

http://sloanesomething.livejournal.com/417595.html

Im just the middleman. I leave LJ for ONE MONTH and look what trouble it gets into. For the record: I don't crosspost anything, anywhere, so don't worry about that. The little things are there only because I'm too much of a dummy to fiddle with the CSS; nothing is going anywhere. Anyway, the point is, let me know if you're Dreamwidth-bound? I am so busy these days it's kind of off-putting (for me, hopefully it is not affecting anyone else - except the people I work with, who deserve it). In related news,...

One American's Journal from the Land of the Morning Calm. Thursday, May 31, 2007. Because of my lack of understanding, I rely more on my observations than my own understanding of how things are supposed to work. As a result, I think I notice things that I would probably miss if I were back home where I don't need to be quite so observant and aware. Sunday, May 27, 2007. http://emherbert.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

One American's Journal from the Land of the Morning Calm. Saturday, September 29, 2007. I got up at 7:00 this morning and went downstairs for breakfast with Nina, and we met Grace down in the breakfast room. She had had a good time hiking the Great Wall yesterday and was planning to walk to the Temple of Heaven today. That's a really long walk from the hostel, so we suggested that she rent a bike or take a taxi today. On the topic of unusual signs, here are a few of my favorites from China. At the Great ...

One American's Journal from the Land of the Morning Calm. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. I had a box waiting for me when I returned home last night. Mail! Puppet company, the same company that made the groundhog puppet Dad gave me two Christmases ago. Mr. Coyote was definitely a hit with my kindergartners. No, a coyote. No, a coyote. No, a coyote. Oh, that's so cool! Living here my whole life, I forget that there are animals they don't have everywhere. Fun! Sunday, March 02, 2008 3:23:00 AM. Fried Rice and ...

One American's Journal from the Land of the Morning Calm. Saturday, June 30, 2007. Mom, Dad, and I took a walk around a local park today. The weather is beautiful in the Chicago area these days. http://emherbert.blogspot.com/2008/02/saying-goodbye.html

One American's Journal from the Land of the Morning Calm. Friday, February 22, 2008. I had tears in my eyes as I left my last class, and they were only made worse when the kids followed me into the hall to give me a hug. I wonder who they will be in their futures, these Korean children whose lives have crossed briefly with mine. I hope I've given them an adequate introduction to English. Here are some pictures from the last days of class. And the end-of-the-year preschool staff picture. Some Kind of Asian.

One American's Journal from the Land of the Morning Calm. Friday, April 27, 2007. More field trip fun. Today was day two of field trips. What a way to end the week! Today we took kids to the local mountain park for some good outdoor fun. We took the preschoolers in the early afternoon and then the 3rd-5th graders in the late afternoon. The trip was mostly uneventful and a great opportunity to enjoy spring. Here are the preschoolers. I love these little ones. Happy birthday, Mom! I love you and miss you.

Also, I wanted to quickly (and belatedly) acknowledge the passing of the awesome Ben E King on April 30. Do you remember the scene.
