The Sketchbook of Rose Cat Khan: Cintiq Hybrid Review & Skintone Studies
http://hotpinkpumpkin.blogspot.com/2014/05/cintiq-hybrid-review-skintone-studies.html
Monday, May 12, 2014. Cintiq Hybrid Review and Skintone Studies. Their software however, sucks massively. Every pre-loaded Wacom App from Creative Canvas to Manga Canvas had awful interfaces and crap performance. Their "Wacom Recommends" app which leads you to other apps was literally broken, half the links would not work. Even their error messages are a massive fail:. Overall, I was happy with the quality of work the Hybrid let me achieve. I was surprised I could go fairly detailed without performan...

The Sketchbook of Rose Cat Khan: March 2014
http://hotpinkpumpkin.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 27, 2014. Anime Boston Weekend Review. Anime Boston is perhaps the biggest con I've tabled at, boasting an attendance of over 20,000 people. This con had a very well managed Artist Alley. It's also the first Alley I've been in where there was an active announcer/comedian who was kind enough to remind guests not to take pictures without permission. This made me super happy. Wait, that isn't a drawing.it's my 2014 Jeep Patriot, parallel parked. Last time I achieved a parallel park? Wikipedi...

The Sketchbook of Rose Cat Khan: November 2014
http://hotpinkpumpkin.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 16, 2014. A Journey of Seventeen Years or Eight Months? As I look back at the past year, I find myself asking 'how did I get here? I just sold my last copy of the first print run of Return to the Castle. Just a few short months ago, my dining room table was covered in cases of books. I had a hefty little charge on my credit card and a looming feeling of dread. Centernia, circa 1997, back when the story read like a Disney movie. Another printed book seemed too daunting. Dating back to 199...

The Sketchbook of Rose Cat Khan: Four Seasons Process
http://hotpinkpumpkin.blogspot.com/2015/04/four-seasons-process.html
Monday, April 13, 2015. This spring, I debuted a line of seasonal unicorns. Here is the process work that went into this project. Each drawing began as a fully-shaded pencil sketch. I color-shifted the pencils and painted over them digitally,. Setting them into an Art Nouveau-inspired layout. I slowly added in more color, working on all four of the designs at the same time. At this phase, I began to fill in the backgrounds, adding more depth. For the final phase, I focused on intricate details. Weekend W...
