Friday, September 21, 2012. In east Alaska, not too far from the Canadian border, lies the largest designated wilderness on the planet. Spanning 13 million acres, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is absolutely massive. The Root Glacier is the most accessible glacier in the park. It runs along next to Kennecott, an old ghost town and copper mine that shut down back in the 20's. As daily radiation from the sun ablates the top of the glacier,. Sunday, September 22, 2013. This weekend, I'm on a strict regimen of prescription eye drops. My eyes will fluctuate over the next month, but so far I'm really pleased with the procedure. I have to wear safety glasses and sleep in safety goggles for a week, but I can see! Friday night I laid in bed and stared at the moon out my window for a long while. I haven't noticed the moon in months. It is so crisp, complex, and beautiful! Right now I feel like this is the best decision I've made in a long time.
