Friends of Batahola Volunteers, Managua, Nicaragua. Batahola Volunteers are young people from the U.S. who accompany the Centro Cultural Batahola Norte in its work of empowerment of women and youth for social transformation. Other than the fact that Nicaragua is on the same continent as the US (North America in case you skipped out on geography class) and is only a 2.5 hour flight from Miami, I have seen so many other signs that it is “close to home”.
