I love the Japanese and Chinese style of pottery and I admire the glazes, the celadons, tenmokus, oxblood copper red made from traditional Chinese recipes. I am fascinated by the alchemy of reduction firing in my gas kiln – the transmutation of dull minerals into exciting deep colours and surfaces that have to be touched.
