Cobalt-Dragonfly Creations: October 2014
http://cobalt-dragonfly.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Calligraphy and Illumination Gallery. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Oh, this poor neglected blog. So I haven't been creating too much lately, or at least not that which I can share at this point, so here's a little something I made to help safely transport the Archery Champion scroll to its destination. My aim was that it's merely for transportation, and that the recipient return the case to their local group or Kingdom for re-use once they have their scroll safely at home. Some people make similar cases wi...

Cobalt-Dragonfly Creations: July 2014
http://cobalt-dragonfly.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Calligraphy and Illumination Gallery. Monday, July 28, 2014. When I saw a page in the Hours of Catherine of Cleves depicting various archery/crossbow paraphernalia, I knew I wanted to one day use it as an archery award. Thus, when the opportunity arose that our Kingdom needed an Archery Champion scroll, to be awarded the evening of the archery competition. The winner ended up being HL Owen ap Howell. It's awesome to see him out shooting again. Posted by Crystal Marinelli. Wednesday, July 2, 2014. He seem...

A Most Beguiling Accomplishment. For the study of historical dress; consisting of analyses of costume in paintings, translations of and research into fashion plates, and occasionally actual sewing. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Pride and Prejudice 1995: The Little Things. I did threaten to write about the Ehle/Firth Pride and Prejudice. The exact date when the story is set is never given; generally, the movie's taken to be set in 1813, when the book was published. I'm not going to go into the full sto...

Wednesday, August 27, 2014. The Latest Patterning Visit. I have a series of meaty posts in the works, but they're not quite ready yet, so let me tell you about the most recent visit I made for patterning at the Albany Institute. So not representative of a usual mode of dress construction, but if you've already...

Saturday Morning Treasures: Im In Love
http://saturdaymorningtreasures.blogspot.com/2011/03/im-in-love.html
Sunday, March 20, 2011. Garage sale season has started in earnest so it's time to dust off the blog. I found a beautiful pink milk glass bowl yesterday and I am in love with it. The guy running the garage sale gave me carte blanche to pick through the containers in the garage. This beauty was buried deep in a plastic bin in a tiny bathroom. Shell Pink Milk Glass Lombardi Bowl. This was a set of 7 dinner plates and 7 bread and butter plates. $3.00 for all. I've been entertaining myself at the thrift and a...

Saturday Morning Treasures: Lacy Lovelies
http://saturdaymorningtreasures.blogspot.com/2011/03/lacy-lovelies.html
Tuesday, March 22, 2011. As a historical costumer I've learned a little about lace, at least enough to recognize the good stuff. I came across this handmade battenburg lace doily at a garage sale. I think I paid 10 cents for it. Unfortunately it has some stains that I haven't been able to soak out. I think it's beautiful anyway. Speaking of Battenburg, I need to repair the lacing on my tablecloth. Not a hard repair, I just need to do it. Along with a hundred other things LOL! March 26, 2011 at 12:37 PM.

A Day In 1862...: 1860s Toddler Underwear + Pattern
http://adayin1862.blogspot.com/2010/12/1860s-toddler-underwear-pattern.html
1860s Toddler Underwear Pattern. My children's clothes and patterns are now available on my other site Thistle and Lilly. Wow, I can't believe it's been a month (2 days shy) since I last posted. I guess things have been busier around here than I thought. I keep thinking. Of great things to post, but never seem to get around to doing it. Part of making these was the embroidery on the inside, which is inspired by Queen Victoria's underwear. Fun stuff. 24 months in this case). Detail on the chemises. Those ...

CFGriffith Blog Redirect: March 2011
http://cfgriffith.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Learning to sew 18th century costumes (and eventually 19th century, once I'm caught up). Friday, March 25, 2011. My actual blog and website are at CFGriffith.com. I mainly use this to reply to friends here on blogger, and meet new friends! I am learning to sew historical clothing so I can have fun with my costuming friends (although I am not historically accurate yet - someday when I'm caught up, I hope to try harder). Although I also love Victorian clothing, my current focus is on 18th century.
