Life As Theory: Revisiting Fear
http://lifeastheory.blogspot.com/2014/06/revisiting-fear.html
Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Hashtag craze reminded me strongly of a line of thinking I explored years ago. I felt it warranted a partial repost. The original post can be found HERE. I don't want to raise my daughter in fear but it seems to be a necessity. I work on my own fear daily and try to find the balance between heeding it and maintaining my own confidence. Life As Theory: Courage
http://lifeastheory.blogspot.com/2013/07/courage.html
Thursday, July 11, 2013. Last night, I took my kids to the park. It was a lovely evening and we headed out about 45 minutes before sundown. As we walked and talked, my kids and I all learned some good lessons.or at least I did. I sat down on a bench while my wild 4 year old son ran.just for the sake of running! I also recognized her fear as my own at that moment. I don't know if my next step will bring me the same, but I sure hope so. These kids teach me something everyday. The middle finger project.

Life As Theory: December 2012

Monday, December 17, 2012. Shut Up and Do Something. I'm feeling a bit cantankerous this morning. A bit confrontational. It's unusual for me and even more unusual for me to do something as public as write a blog about it, but writing is a good outlet for me. And I've been told I'm not too bad at it. To fix the things that most vex me. What are you doing? If you think charity is the way to take care of these problems, get out there and start a charity. I understand you have a full time job and don't h...

Life As Theory: Women....can't live without em...
http://lifeastheory.blogspot.com/2010/07/womencant-live-without-em.html
Monday, July 26, 2010. Womencan't live without em. Female and since I think there's probably a lot more of an uphill battle for women, it makes sense to call me a feminist. I've been reading a book about Eleanor Roosevelt. No, that was not a massive subject jump-just keep reading (does anybody read this? That was one incredible woman. She was a feminist but she would be horrified to be called one! I can't even hope to contribute as much as she but I hope to contribute something. The middle finger project.

Life As Theory: September 2013
http://lifeastheory.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Ten years. A lot can happen in ten years. It’s a measurement of time that has been coming up for me a lot lately. There’s the ubiquitous “where do you see yourself in ten years? 8221; question. There’s the student who recently told me I’m an “old woman” because I’m ten years older than she is. And there is the ten year anniversary of a local organization called Panhandle Twenty/20. A lot has changed in ten years. I attended a working lunch meeting today for PanhandleTwenty/20.

Wednesday, May 15, 2013. What You Should Know About Public Servants-OR-What I Want You to Realize About Benghazi. These days. I mean, Facebook, the news, the watercooler, Twitter, comedy, blogs. everywhere. Bring it on. See, for me, this is not just something to be avoided or not. It is a big deal to me. I am almost halfway through my Master in Public Administration (side note brag: the program in which I'm enrolled is now ranked SIXTH in the nation! Turning their deaths into political ammunition. Monday, April 22, 2013. The Truth About Being Fat. You hear on TV and movies a character say, "I got a wake-up call from my doctor about my weight." I never imagined mine would sound like this. Do you have an exercise plan? Yes, I ran my first 5k last fall. Then you need to watch your diet more. You are a pretty girl now that your acne is clearing up. Did she think I hadn't noticed my once pristine skin is now bumpy with acne scars and current pimples? Jogging that far or lifting that much. I know what p...

Wednesday, May 11, 2011. If Mama Ain't Happy, Ain't Nobody Happy. Alright, hang on to your seats. I'm going to tackle a really really controversial subject today. I need to start this post by warning any sensitive readers that I did include some strong and somewhat graphic language in this post-though no cussing or crude sexual content (one sexual reference)-use discretion. I'm also not sure I would recommend this post to a pregnant first-time mother.maybe wait till after you deliver. I've mentioned it a...

Life As Theory: April 2012

Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Things I overheard in the last few days:. In response to being told about a survey about attitudes about LBGT issues) "I don't judge. God will judge. I don't judge.I have gay friends! Not intimate ones, of course.". On being unemployed and hungry) "Obama ruined everything. I do NOT like him." (literally, the only thing that prompted this comment was the fact that the speaker is unemployed and hungry). Response to internet commentor. You paint the world. In black and white,.
