Rhubarb, Orange and Prosecco Jam. Well, it's been several months sinced i last posted, but it's time to get back into the kitchen and feed the houseboy up for winter. The summer has been filled with weddings (including our own wonderful day) an amazing Italian honeymoon, parties, hen do's and weekends away which have all been brilliant fun, but it's secretly quite nice now it's all calming down. 15 kilos of rhubarb. 50g of fresh root ginger. Pared rind and juice of two oranges. 175 kilos of sugar.

Not worrying so much. Fun times. Where i had a lovely venison dish. We finished up at The Whiski Rooms. On the Mound for a nightcap, there i tried a 'Smokey Mary' a twist on a traditional Bloody Mary with the addition of 10 year old Ardbeg.i couldn't drink more than one at a time, but it was very good. http://loveinatimeofgluttony.blogspot.com/2012/05/herb-encrusted-cod-with-garlicy-butter.html
Herb Encrusted Cod with Garlicy Butter Beans. So this recipe isn't from one of my cook books as my self imposed cooking challenge states should be. But hopefully i will get round to adding one, i have a few more days and i'm planning on doing some cooking over the weekend. So worth booking into) i will be taking a Château L'Hospitalet La Clape, which is a massively punchy red. Use different herbs and spices. This works best with white fish. Two large handfuls of breadcrumbs. One whole red chilli. Pop you...

Beef and Chorizo Casserole. The Houseboy turned the grand old age of twenty nine recently so at his request i baked him a Red Velvet Cake. I cheated slightly (with his permission) and didn't make a fully original one like in the Hummingbird Cafe cookbook. Lots of people go on casserole overload over the winter months which is no bad thing. There are hundreds of variations and it's a good way to use up left overs etc. This is a punchy and filling dish which is great with Mashed Potatoes, saying th...Which...

Love in a Time of Gluttony: Artichoke & Butterbean Dip
http://loveinatimeofgluttony.blogspot.com/2013/03/artichoke-butterbean-dip.html
Artichoke and Butterbean Dip. When you have people for dinner it's really easy serve so many nibbles that they are too full for the main event. This is a light and delicious dip which is great with pitta bread, carrot sticks or crackers. You can use artichoke hearts in salted water but the dip will have a stiffer consistency, the olive oil does also add to the taste. One tin of chickpeas. One jar of artichoke hearts in olive oil. One tablespoon of creme fraiche. One clove of garlic grated.

Love in a Time of Gluttony: July 2012

Honey and Soy Salmon with Stir Fry Veggies. It's July, it's pouring down with rain and i've worn a waterproof jacket to work everyday the last TWO WEEKS. I seriously feel like i'm about to grow gills. But life goes on, just with soggy shoes. It was my birthday recently which has tipped me well and truly into my thirties (i didn't count turning thirty last year, i just didn't happen) and we headed to Barrafina. One large clove of garlic. One piece of fresh ginger roughly the same size as a garlic clove.

Chicken in Spicy Yoghurt. We are on another. And followed swiftly by his first full marathon in Copenhagen. Needless to say i will not be running but i will be standing at the finish line waiting for him with a shiny foil blanket thingy and a sandwich. It's completely impossible to resist. I also have to confess now that i baked a carrot cake to take in tomorrow. The Houseboy is right - i am a feeder and i have no will power. One large yellow pepper. 300g low fat greek yogurt. 2" knob of fresh ginger.
