Wednesday, February 27. Kate told me one day she wanted to cut her hair off. just out of the blue. i made her sit on it for the whole day and then that night, took her into the bathroom to get the scissors and ponytails and at that moment, she changed her mind. no harm, no foul. i was glad she was making her own choices about it. A few months later, she did the same thing. she spent all morning talking about how she wanted to cut her hair. we went through the same routine - "are you sure? Such a beauty :).

Saturday, March 30. The girls really look forward to coloring eggs all spring, this time miles is checking it out :). We tried a few different things, starting with an online recipe i used last year for food color dye. it works well, gives really pretty colors and hues. the whole white crayon thing, however, does not work out so well. we'll try something else next year! Scribbled by the coltons. Tuesday, March 26. This kid is an eater! So i figured we'd try solids, even though it feels a little early.

Tuesday, August 7. Weston left his g10 lying around and one afternoon, kate apparently picked it up and took some shots. Monday, January 21. What is so magical about sunday afternoons that lend themselves so perfectly for naps? I don't know, but we take full advantage over here. Saturday, April 27. Kitchen reno: day 12. Between days 10 &12, i primed, sanded, and painted 2 coats onto the bottom cabinet framework. i'm still tired. But day 12 was exciting! Kent attached all but one of our countertop pieces! I had another little burst of enthusiasm just seeing this. And here's where we can all say it together "dun, dun, dunnnnn." here comes the really long, tedious, "part where we cry and have a little breakdown" part. painting the doors. Monday, May 13. Kitchen reno: days 13 until forever. And ever and ever and ever. I painted those doors for days! Then i had to fill all four edges with putty, sand cured putty, and paint finished edges. shoot me. I had designated 2 doors next to the sink to be framed over ribbed glass. when kent sent me with the doors to get the glass cut, he had sent me with the wrong doors. doors that were only wrong by about 1/4". we didn't find this out until they were ready to be picked up. big boo. I wanted to cry.

Wednesday, September 12. Late one afternoon when the girls were quiet, i walked into the living room to see kate holding scissors and a chunk of her sisters' hair. i think had i walked in seconds before, beth would still have her hair intact. Kate played barber on baby sister. She knows she's in for it. Poor beth. good thing hair grows, and fast when you have a little head! Scribbled by the coltons. Wednesday, September 5. Thursday, July 11. Again, we spent this fourth of july in monroe with our families and the usual festivities. The girls loved the parade, beth finally got the concept of chasing down candy :). Miles was cute and cuddly and we all had a good time. my brother, travis, and his daughter, megan, were in town so they joined us all day. After the parade, we all went over to central for the town lunch on the park. Couldn't be the fourth (or twenty fourth) without an afternoon golf game! Fireworks show. towar...

Monday, December 31. Grandma and grandpa nielsen's home. We took a quick tour through grandma and grandpa nielsen's home while we were in monroe over christmas. the interior really looks nothing like it used to, but i'm okay with that. the fact that people live there who love and are keeping up with the house makes me pretty happy :). I couldn't pick just one pretty picture. for a couple of reasons: 1 - there weren't any pretty ones and. 2 - they were all too good :). Me and the kids. Tuesday, December 25.
