THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: April 2010
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Suffering for the Glory of God. I just listened to Matt Chandler and CJ Mahaney's Message from Together for the Gospel 2010. And it really hit me. Many specific things stood out to me, but here are a few that stood out:. God is good no matter what He brings our way. He can do us no wrong. God help me to always preach the gospel, and to suffer well, if you call me to that high calling. I recommend watching the video of this message. It is well worth your 50 minutes.

THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: February 2011
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 09, 2011. Summary of the Bible in Two Verses. This morning I was reading in 1 Samuel. In Chapter 12, Samuel is giving his farewell speech. In that speech, he gives, in my opinion, two key verses as to what everything is all about. One has to do with God's motives, and one has to do with our responsibility. For the LORD will not forsake his people, for his great name's sake, because it pleased the LORD to make you a people for himself. (1 Samuel 12:22). I call this post a Summary of th...

THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: September 2011
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 16, 2011. Join us on a ride to work! I thought it would be fun to get some video that would show how a typical day's commute to campus while living in Kampala. Here is what I got! The first video is near our house and the roundabout you will see is at a place called Nakulabye. This second video shows what it is like to get through a typical intersection, with no traffic lights! This last video shows some of the landscape of Kampala. Kampala is said to be built on seven hills. Having "ho...

THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: February 2012
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 12, 2012. The Radical Depravity of Man. This morning I listened to a sermon called, "The Radical Depravity of Man". Preached by a Pastor named Conrad Mbewe. He is a Pastor in Lusaka, Zambia, which is a cultural and religious context quite similar to that in Uganda. He is also known as "The African Spurgeon.". The reason for this is that our hearts are naturally disinclined from God. The main passage for this is found in Romans 3:9-18. These are not necessarily new truths for me. But ...

THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: Surprised by Judges 2
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2012/09/surprised-by-judges-2.html
Saturday, September 15, 2012. Surprised by Judges 2. This morning as I got out my Bible and schedule for daily readings I got excited! It is Judges 2-5 today! And you know what that means. EHUD! So I began reading in chapter two and a verse immediately jumped out at me. Joshua had just died, after living through all the amazing works coming out of Egypt and then through the wilderness, and then as God gave Canaan to Israel. But then it says this:. God, help me instruct my children in your ways, so that t...

THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: February 2010
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 19, 2010. From Covenant Life Church. Sometimes God feels far away. Sometimes we doubt. But does how we feel or think really make a difference about who God is, or what He is up to? God is so much more than us. I am weak. I falter. I have bad days. But this is not so with God. He is from everlasting to everlasting the same. Yesterday. Today. Forever. Why does what I think, or what others think mean so much to me? What we think is not relevant. What is important is what is true.

THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: Shamgar !!!
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2011/01/shamgar.html
Monday, January 24, 2011. After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed 600 of the Philistines with an oxgoad, and he also saved Israel. Shamgar with his Oxgoad! He slays 600 Philistines! Almost looks like a Jedi! I think this guy is just about as cool as Ehud. And with these two dudes combined, Judges 3 could be the best chapter in the OT. And you know I love Ehud. THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE: How to Stay Alive in the beauty of God's World
http://jamieunited.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-stay-alive-in-beauty-of-gods.html
Friday, January 06, 2012. How to Stay Alive in the beauty of God's World. This post from Desiring God really spoke to me today. I think we often move around too fast to really appreciate the things on this important list. In a 1976 lecture, Kilby gave ten steps on how to stay alive to the beauty of God's world:. I shall not turn my life into a thin straight line which prefers abstractions to reality. I shall know what I am doing when I abstract, which of course I shall often have to do. I shall open my e...
