Chapel-le-Dale is a broad U-shaped dale that stretches from the outskirts of Ingleton. And rises up to to the Ribblehead Viaduct. Where it narrows into a V-shape before merging into the upper moorland of the Yorkshire Dales. The sides of the Dale are the slopes of Ingleborough. On one side and Whernside.
