Prison Chaplaincy at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. Sunday, November 29, 2009. GC -She asked for a healthy mind during prayer time. She is seeing that her changed attitude is bringing positivity in her life. TL -She has no support on the outside, but a Mental Health worker is helping her along. She has no addictions, but is having troubles finding housing. There is a one-year waiting list for transition houses and the shelters are full by the time she gets phone access in the mornings.

Late last week I found out that an inmate who has been in and out of the OCDC for almost 12 years, and who came to faith close to a decade ago, overdosed and died. Yes, it's true - many of our inmates who have accepted the free gift of grace and peace, and who have chosen to submit themselves under Christ's Lordship, still struggle with their additions (as we all do).
