Burnt Wood and Natural Elements: March 2010
http://burntwoodnaturalelements.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 5, 2010. Take Me to the River. I have not worked this drawing for awhile as I was on holiday with my family. Out of the groove of it I was nervous about getting back into it. I dove right in today and started the reflection on the river. Very rough to begin with which had me nervous for awhile because it looks so sloppy. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). What I am about. Burnt Wood and Natural Elements: December 2010
http://burntwoodnaturalelements.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 5, 2010. I'm very pleased to be able to finally post this commission drawing which was unveiled last evening. Otis Technology manufactures the most advanced gun cleaning system in the world. The company celebrates it's 25th year and I was very honored to recreate their iconic logo by bringing it into 3 dimensional life. The companies support of our military armed forces is exemplary and it seemed very fitting that our Soldiers be featured in the drawing. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Burnt Wood and Natural Elements: April 2011
http://burntwoodnaturalelements.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 14, 2011. I have decided it is not worthy of submission to it's intended exhibition jury that I had planned it for. At least not at this point. Having let go of that deadline has taken the pressure off and I do have every intention of completing it. I just have to step back, focus, and forge ahead. I've faced greater challenges with works in progress so I'm determined to persevere. Friday, April 8, 2011. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Monday, April 4, 2011.

Burnt Wood and Natural Elements: August 2009
http://burntwoodnaturalelements.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 29, 2009. I went for a 10k run this morning shortly after reading Peter Brown's comment on my last post and thought about what he wrote. As I'm pushing hard past the 8k point and the lactic acid is building I wondered why do I run like this? It also feels great at the same time. I do it again and again. Something beyond my comprehension and beyond me, compels me to make drawings. To create works of art. That is what they are. work! Or are they driven BY madness? Friday, August 28, 2009.

Burnt Wood and Natural Elements: May 2011
http://burntwoodnaturalelements.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 6, 2011. Tuesday, May 3, 2011. I've been putting graphite to bristol. Board steadily since my last osprey posting in an attempt to get this commission portrait complete. At 16"x20" there is A LOT of graphite to layer in. With the navy blue of the U.S. flag behind this Soldier in his dress uniform which is a very dark green I've been challenged to get all these darks. Up to proper value. There is still important work to be done on the facial features but the tedious part of the job is done.

Burnt Wood and Natural Elements: September 2009
http://burntwoodnaturalelements.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 24, 2009. Life is what happens when. When you're busy making other plans. John Lennon summed it up perfectly. I find myself focusing all my attention on my work, my business and the 101 other things that demand my time. As this goes on my young son, Kane gets bigger and bigger. He truly is my world, not the drawings that I think are my life. Saturday, September 5, 2009. Several years ago I made the above drawing based on reference photos I shot in Yellowstone National Park. This i...
