Charles Darwin 5: Cell Growth and Division Vocabulary

http://charlesdarwin5.blogspot.com/2008/01/cell-growth-and-division-vocabulary.html

Friday, January 4, 2008. Cell Growth and Division Vocabulary. Cell Division- is a process by which a cell, called the parent cell, divides into two cells, called daughter cells. Chromatid- is one of two identical copies of DNA making up a chromosome that are joined at their centromeres. Centromere- the region in eukaryote chromosomes where daughter chromatids are joined together. Interphase- the stage of the cell or nucleus when it is not in mitosis, hence comprising most of the cell cycle.

Charles Darwin 5: Chapter 10 Questions

http://charlesdarwin5.blogspot.com/2008/01/chapter-10-questions.html

Thursday, January 10, 2008. 1 One reason for cell division is to replace old cell with new ones. Another reason is to repair other damaged cells. 2 The DNA in a cell is like a library in that it contains a lot of important information. 3 The solution to problems in cell growth is making a daughter cell with the same genetic information. 4 As a cell increases in size the surface area increases more rapidly than its volume. 4 Chromosomes are made of chromatin. 5 Prokaryotic cells divide simple by separating.

Two reasons why cells divide are that as the cell gets bigger, it places more demands on its DNA and because it is larger, it has more trouble moving enough nutrients and waste across the cell membrane. 2 How is a cell's DNA like the books in a library? 3 What is the solution to the. Who Hand-Numbered Charles Darwin’s Books and why?

Charles Darwin’s Books and why? I am a fan and collector of Charles Darwin and his works. I have a few mysteries to unravel on this website. First, someone hand-numbered (in pencil on bottom of the the back page) a great many of Darwin’s books. I am referring to his books published by John Murray. Could Darwin have had a hand it this? So here are the questions regarding this first mystery:. Who numbered those books? What do the number mean? How were they numbered? Why were they numbered? We will soon see.
