I just read a brief news blurb on SeekingAlpha.com that Carl Icahn has reportedly purchased a stake in Herbalife. I see this as a sign that American capitalism is in a final death spiral, when one of its foremost practitioners invests in what can only charitably be called a 'pyramid scheme.'. Ask yourself this: who purchases Herbalife products aside from other Herbalife distributors?

I've recently been hearing a lot of discussion about an impending market correction or even crash. The prophets of doom have the numbers on their side: the S&P 500 has advanced some 25% so far in 2013, but corporate earnings have advanced only 3%. Simple logic tells us that this means the market is pushing the price-earnings ratio higher. And yet . . . But if the market is wrong . . .
