It Ain’t All Bad | Incidental Occident

My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. It Ain’t All Bad. Full disclosure: I’m in England right now. The kids at Student Finance England have taken their fingers out their butts, though, and I now have more than enough money to pay for rent and. Groceries. To celebrate, this here is a post about some of the things that America (New York specifically,) actually does better than England. In the fine tradition of uninventive Internet writers everywhere, it’s totally going to be a list. Dunkin’ tr...

My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. My Roommate is the Devil. DISCLAIMER: THE TITLE IS CONJECTURE ONLY. MY ROOMMATE MAY. NOT HAVE BEEN BORN OF THE JACKAL. This woman is the worst. When I first arrived I was fooled by the tin of butter cookies, the offer of tea, and the bright pink ‘WELCOME! There were warning signs before I’d even signed the contract. Desperate for any place to live, I agreed to a bizarrely specific, extremely persnickety ‘Hygiene Standards List’. Currently, Helen is using.

Escape from Elmhurst | Incidental Occident

My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. Allow me to update you on my post-bedbug life, and I’ll try not to bum you out too much. Helen, my former roommate, is the Anti-Christ. If you’ve read my other posts, you’ve barely been exposed to a fraction of the plethora of her utter shitness. But, since my last entry (and because of it,) I’ve miraculously (no exaggeration) managed to move out of that apartment, with its bedbugs, German cockroaches and overbearing Broadway reject. Pictured: Helen at lunch.

About | Incidental Occident
https://incidentaloccident.wordpress.com/about
My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. I am a third year, Joint Honours, English Literature and American Studies student at the University of Leicester (UK). I’m from North London, but right now I’m in Flushing, Queens NYC. This is my second semester abroad, and it’s just under 2 months ’til I’m safely home again. I’m probably the only student in the world who voluntarily decided to move to New York City for a year, and hated most of it. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Classes 2.0, Home 4.0 | Incidental Occident

My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. Classes 2.0, Home 4.0. It’s been called to my attention, again, that I am a terrible person and I never update my blog. I totally made a New Year’s Resolution about that, jeez, what’s my problem? Saving myself $600 by moving from a double room (one other girl in my bedroom) to a triple room (two other girls), I finally have a place to call home. My classes are better than last semester too. I never updated that side of my blog, but one of those classes tur...

My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. The Straw That Broke the Camel’s Back. The bedbug is a majestic creature. Rare enough in England that to have had the pleasant surprise of discovering not one – but. In my bed, has sent me into such transports of delight, I may not even sleep tonight. After a long/long-distance conversation with my boyfriend, which inevitably devolved into profanities aimed at Helen. And lamentations at my inability to touch his butt). Testimonial (6): We should be ‘Elite without being elitist’ | Incidental Occident

My Study-Abroad experience in New York City. Testimonial (6): We should be ‘Elite without being elitist’. I wrote this post for KCL’s Angry Masters. It expresses how I feel about King’s College London’s new exclusionary and elitist MA deposit policy.
