Raquo; It is What it is: Race Eve Edition. It is What it is: Race Eve Edition. April 10, 2015. So I’m racing tomorrow. The first race of 2015….the one that seemed so far away during the middle of a frigid and nasty winter. When I signed up back in January. Thankfully I don’t have to. These photos were taken yesterday, April 9th, after an overnight snowstorm dumped several inches of fresh powder everywhere. Good thing, because our yard was. Even Amelia is confused. Like it’s some sort of magical pot...
Recipes | Health On The Run

When I first started blogging, I occasionally wrote about my favorite vegetarian recipes. All of these are easy to make and use simple, readily available ingredients. However, I quickly realized that I’m actually pretty terrible about keeping a food blog. I love cooking, but rarely follow recipes…which makes writing them a bit difficult. There are many other websites and blogs out there that are excellent resources for vegetarian food. Stuffed Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast. At bottom of post).

February 18, 2016. I never meant to abandon this blog. Not truly. Even with the sporadic nature of my updates, I still liked knowing the site was here. Still entertained thoughts of writing regularly at some point. But life got a little bit crazy and. Stressful, and as time went on I found myself less willing to share the details. And that’s the thing about blogging — if you can’t share your life (even a small part of it), if you can’t be authentic. So where am I leaving you? So there you have it. Lots o...

8221;You have to wonder at times what you’re doing out there. Over the years, I’ve given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement.”. One thing that I love almost as much as running itself is reading the stories of other runners. How they got started in the sport, why they stuck with it, what it brings them, what they love and hate about it. So I started the Ode to Running Series. Your email addre...

That long list that makes me excited to get out the door waking up before 5:00 AM to run in place on a moving belt while staring out a dark window is not one of them. Picture from a rare morning when I actually got to run later than 5:00AM. Who would’ve thought, right? The one time it did not start because it was -15? The absolute worst.). Evan is traveling tonight, so you know what that means: it’s Race Recap time! Only two weeks late. Not so bad given my current track record, right? To be honest, I feel just a teeny bit sheepish after my last post. Whether I felt as fit or fitter as I had been back in October for the CHaD Half. I didn’t have the miles or the confidence. 1 It was a...

Raquo; Starting Again. January 14, 2015. In fact. I’m not sure you noticed or even gave this blog a second thought, but I did. Day after day of thinking about posting and wondering what to do with this place…my little corner of the internet. I found it unsettling to have it just hanging out there in space, unresolved. Raquo; Finding a Focus. February 20, 2015. Full disclosure time: it’s been a tough few weeks around here. And I’m sure the weather has had something to do with it. I no longer remember what this street looks like without snow. All of you. The bottom line is that at this particular moment, it is hard to feel certain that she is in the best environment. And I feel as though this battle that I’m fighting to ensure that. Is looking out for her best interests is getting nowhere. So now, questioning that while...

Chasing After Normal | doing life with rheumatoid arthritis
Doing life with rheumatoid arthritis. July 27, 2015. A few months ago my husband began complaining that his hands were hurting. It typically correlated with the weather changes, and always resulted in visible swelling of his hands. In addition to the hand pain, he was feeling pain in his knee and wrists, was exhausted all the time, and often complained of other non-specific symptoms. Being the hypocrite that I am, I strongly. I wanted to smack him. Like, for real. Than the pain I feel from my RA symptoms...

Chasing My Own Tail | Trying to Figure Them Out
Chasing My Own Tail. Trying to Figure Them Out. The myth of alcohol fuelled violence. This was originally posted as a Facebook status by a mate who works as security in the Sydney CBD. He has allowed me to post this here, with minor edits. Alcohol-related street violence is all I seem to hear of these days. While working in security, the stupidity of blaming alcohol and the venue, instead of the individual doing the damage, is getting me down. How about making someone accountable for every assault? The p...

Chasing PRs
Tuesday, February 26, 2013. I love keeping track of my miles and posting them on my facebook and twitter. I started logging them in RunKeeper. But I didn't like that I always had to carry my phone with me on my runs. I decided it was time to get a GPS watch. I typically look at all the options for running gear but I saw the Garmin Forerunner 610. And decided that was the watch for me. But at it's current price, it was way out of my budget so I decided to wait on getting a watch. Real women wear SKIRTS!

Chasing My Rainbow....alone... | A journey to single motherhood
Chasing My Rainbow….alone…. A journey to single motherhood. Still here. Just thinking a lot. I admittedly fell into a very deep depression a few weeks ago. Getting the pathology report and starting my first period on the day I would have been 20wks was too much. Way too much. Plus 30 women I know personally are pregnant….averaging an announcement a week on Facebook. That’s not even counting the random acquaintances from other forms of social media. All of this is overwhelming and confusing. Before my ins...
