Col's Creations: February 2012
http://colscreations.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 24, 2012. I used a "Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit - Neon" for this batch. Fuchsia, Orange, Yellow, Lime, and Turquoise. The Neon kit is either brand new or so old it's been discontinued as I can't find another like it now. :( Pity as I really like this combo of dye colors. But isn't that the way it always goes? You find a product you love and then poof - they decide to stop making it. I've used the 5-color Tulip kits for all my tie-dye projects and what I've found is . THEY LIE!

Col's Creations: May 2011

Sunday, May 29, 2011. My friend JoAnne taught me how to do this and I think it is just ingenious in its simplicity. If making a pendant on a cord, you don't have to worry about how long to make it with this "trick". How great is that? One size really will fit all. :). Take the left end of the cord and tie a simple slip-knot around the right side of the cord. Pull the knot tight, using your thumb to "push" the knot along so that only a small tail is left. Now, how cool is that? A totally adjustable neckla...

Col's Creations: The $65 Flop
http://colscreations.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-65-flop.html
Saturday, May 17, 2014. The day before I boarded the plane back to PA, we returned to the PYOPP to pick up the three finished pieces. They looked fantastic! The difference in colors between the raw ceramic paint and the fired paint is amazing! This was the same summer we moved from an apartment in town to a house on the river. Grateful, blessed, lucky - yes! But also - BUSY! Moving ain't easy. ;). When I returned to pick it up, my bowl was a beacon, calling to me from its shelf, a stand-out amid all the ...

Col's Creations: Maloccio Bracelet
http://colscreations.blogspot.com/2013/06/maloccio-bracelet.html
Friday, June 28, 2013. I got the idea for this linked stretchy bracelet from one I bought from Sears (uh, yes, Sears! A while back. I thought the design would be easy to copy. 80 beads and 144 links later I ended up with something that looks nothing like the "inspiration piece". But that's how it should be right? Not to copy a piece but to use the idea. And make something unique out if it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Some Of My Other Pages. Knightwork: Playing with Clay. Chasin' Rainbows, Too.

Col's Creations: Decoupaged Camo Dresser

Sunday, May 4, 2014. When Spring hit this year (finally! I decided the butcher-block like top needed a sprucing up. I was just going to sand it and apply a new coat of wood stain and sealer but alas! When I took the orbital sander to it I discovered it wasn't actually solid wood. Having wrecked it with the sander and not being able to just stain and seal it as planned, I needed another finish that would be durable and easy to wipe clean, which ruled out simply painting it. Applying a 13" x 13" napkin in ...

Col's Creations: August 2011
http://colscreations.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 16, 2011. I love wind chimes. Even the ones that don't actually make any noise, the purely decorative ones I call "porch danglers". This one here made a lovely delicate little sound but it didn't take a wind much stronger than a sneeze to tangle the streamers up something awful. Then we had a storm come through which blew this one down, breaking some of the discs and leaving the rest tangled beyond hope. So I decided to re-do it, my way, and hang it indoors. Sunday, August 7, 2011. Ok the...
