The 1855 Classification of Sauternes and Barsac. The sweet wines of Sauternes and Barsac were the only wines outside of the Médoc to be included in the original 1855 Classification. The top estate, Château d'Yquem, was the only château designated as a Premier Cru Supérieur Classé. While 11 were designated as Premiers Crus Classés.
