Lydian Mode: Getting to use the bolt cutters when I sew is a good thing.
http://lydianmode.blogspot.com/2009/09/getting-to-use-bolt-cutters-when-i-sew.html
Sewing historical and modern clothing. Sunday, September 06, 2009. Getting to use the bolt cutters when I sew is a good thing. I finished the Italy bag. It's got two zippers, a different kind of magnetic snap, and a bunch of pockets. It's a nice bag, but, for some reason, it gave me a lot of trouble. I had to cut four different back panels; I rounded the wrong two corners on the first one, the second was uneven, and the third was half an inch too short. I used the pocket tutorial at Sew Mama Sew. Thanks ...

Lydian Mode: Finished nightie
http://lydianmode.blogspot.com/2009/10/finished-nightie.html
Sewing historical and modern clothing. Saturday, October 31, 2009. I finished my new flannel nightie and reduced the old one with the worn flannel into shoepolishing rags. The PatternReview review is up. I ended up sewing up most of the length of the very long front opening. There's a short slit, with a single snap at the base of my neck. It's very comfortable; it's like my own private little flannel yurt. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sewing and Fashion Blogs I Read. A Dress A Day. Burda 11-2012-1...

Lydian Mode: Thoughts
http://lydianmode.blogspot.com/2009/09/thoughts.html
Sewing historical and modern clothing. Saturday, September 26, 2009. 1 I am assuming, from reading in between the lines on the pattern discussion, that Garment Construction in Schools contains a seam allowance of about half an inch. (There is a strong aspect of wishful thinking in there, to be perfectly honest.). 1a Even if I'm wrong, I have enough flannel to recut at least a little of it. 4 I still need to sit down and figure out to deal with the front placket opening. Lydian Mode: Deadliest dress?
http://lydianmode.blogspot.com/2010/08/deadliest-dress.html
Sewing historical and modern clothing. Tuesday, August 17, 2010. I'm making Butterick 4919. A retro formal dress, for my husband's cousin's wedding in September. The silk arrived this morning, and I laid and cut the pattern while Deadliest Warrior Ninja versus Hoplite played in the background. The silk was 54" wide, and I had six yards, so I had to lay it out in a single layer. I still came up with about a quarter yard left over, even though my fabric was narrower than it was supposed to be. A Dress A Day.

Blue Oyster Kilt: Prime Ministerial Mission - V1183
http://www.blueoysterkilt.com/2011/10/prime-ministerial-mission-v1183.html
Don't Fear the (Seam) Ripper. Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Prime Ministerial Mission - V1183. It's not every day you get to meet the Prime Minister, so a new dress was required. I bought this Kay Unger pattern as soon as it was published, and just needed a good excuse to make it. Diving into my stash I found the most unlikely fabric - a faux suede furnishing fabric. I washed it a few times to beat it into submission, and finally it succumbed under my iron. 19 October, 2011. 24 October, 2011. 22 June, 2012.

ProCRAFTination: December 2010
http://pro-craft-ination.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 24, 2010. If you haven't noticed by now. I've been taking a break from blogging. Haven't really had the chance to sew let alone think about writing about what I've made. I don't plan to completely abandon pro-craft-ination, but I think it needs some time alone. Hope your holidays are going well,. PS in case anyone was wondering I only had one day during self stitched September where I did not wear something I made. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Sewing Blogs I love!

Tuesday, October 20, 2009. When the workplace and hobbies collide. I recently got the chance to use my knitting skills for a projects at work. During one of our slow days my manager and I were talking about ideas for photos. She said "I really want hats for infants" and showed me a few pictures of what she had in mind. Almost immediately I offered up my services. Two days later I had these. Hat #2 was also worked up on size 8 using Lion brand suede yarn in teal (the darker blue), and mystery yarn puchase...

ProCRAFTination: June 2011
http://pro-craft-ination.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 18, 2011. I figure 6 months is much too long to go without posting anything. This is just a short post to let those on the internet know that I am still here, stealthily reading the blog posts of others, attempting to post comments but loosing my train of thought halfway through and then abandoning the whole comment thing out of frustration. I do plan on having some things to post about in the upcoming weeks as we are in the process of buying something that rhymes with the word "mouse".
