Status Report on Karen's Cancer Battle. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Nurse Dropped the $4000 Syringe! Every Friday, after Super Chemo Day, I have been getting a regular Neulasta injection. This injection boosts white blood cell production. It is pretty great and I guess it is helping me feel better. I do not know how much I am being charged for this, but my pharmacist at Rite Aid said the injection "retails" for almost $4000. We both gasp and stare at each other. I exclaim, "We can't use it? She laughs....

Status Report on Karen's Cancer Battle. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Today, March 27, Karen would have been 48 years old. I realized last fall that I will never forget Karen. She will never leave my thoughts. We had such a wonderful marriage that there is no way I can ever stop thinking of her. Ever Well, guess that says something about who they are. Happy birthday Karen. When I saw my primary care physician about my high blood sugar, he asked if I wanted to talk to a nutritionist, and I agreed that it was a good idea. Status Report on Karen's Cancer Battle. I am under hospice care after battling advanced metastatic leiomyosarcoma for five and a half years. I am no longer working. I have been out on disability since since April 2012. I try to have fun every day but I am easy to exhaust. I have the best husband in the world to help me deal with this. That just doesn't fly with me. I am healthier at almost 64 than I was when I was 54. For sure that's true for me since I was probably harboring cancer cells at 54 and hopefully, now those cancer cells have died from old age. Now I am going to have to slip in one more surgery before the 28th and this is filling me with dread. I have to have tooth implant surgery on January 8th. I will work up to what I did yesterday morning, but first a little background. I had the surgery, lots of lying around, and some pain which was tolerable but then I wasn't playing any tennis during recovery, some complications, and another surgery to fix those complications. The sciatic nerve pain got worse and worse. And then it snowed.
