Cheesy Adventures

Thursday, 31 July 2014. I arrived in Durban on Saturday 12th July. It was already dark and I was picked up at the airport by Alfred who introduced himself as the property manager of Vuleka. We got into this old van and off we went, it was pitch black, I couldn't see a thing and had no idea where we were going! After about an hours drive, and climbing many hills we arrived. I was duly dispatched to my new room for the next week, given a cup of tea and that was me! Libby, who will do anything for food!

Monday, 23 June 2014. This time next week I will be on my way to South Africa. Another Big African Adventure which I am really looking forward to. I am spending July and August there and so I thought I would pull out the blog once more to keep everyone updated with what I'm up to. I will then spend some time at Phakamisa. And I will try to keep them updated with my big adventure. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Blogs I peruse regularly! Sunset over Lake Bosumtwe.

Cheesy Adventures: July 2009

http://cheesyadventureswithlou.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Friday, 17 July 2009. Today was my last day in C.T.S. and tonight is my last sleep here before the team arrive tomorrow afternoon. I took the time to speak to all the people who I have been involved with these past 2 weeks as i have been made to feel so very welcome in the college and they couldn't have been more hospitable. Apparently I have been one of their 'least troublesome' guests (and the Dr wasn't bad either! So either we were particularly easy to please or they haven't had very many guests stay!

Monday, 16 November 2009. Are you there God.it's me? I haven't written here in ages and lots has been happening in life with church, college now that im living in Koinonia House and various other things. But i feel the time has come after the past weekend. Cheesy Adventures: April 2010

http://cheesyadventureswithlou.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, 3 April 2010. On friday evening the Seymour Street prayer room was opened for 24 hours of prayer by a time of prayer and praise led by SNASS. So I thought I would share here my reflection on Good Friday that I shared there having read. Why is Good Friday called Good Friday? I would be surprised if most people haven't thought about that at some stage or other. It was a terrible death that was excruciatingly painful and long drawn out causing absolute agony before slowly suffocating. And that is ...

The African Dream: July 2008

http://theafricandream-hollie.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Last Moments at Lake Bosumtwe. Little heads hanging out windows, the patter of little feet on the rocks, the cries of ‘sister Akua’, the sunset over Ancasse lakeside and the stream of children following us wondering where we will go or what we will do. These are just a few of the things that greeted me as I walked past Atafram and on to visit Ancasse last night. I wasn’t bold enough to try it out in the actual water lol but hey I did get on it. So my last night at Lake Bosumtwe ...

The African Dream: ~These Are Those Special Times~

http://theafricandream-hollie.blogspot.com/2008/07/these-are-those-special-times.html

Tuesday, July 22, 2008. These Are Those Special Times. Saturday was another busy day here. The team is here for just a couple more days and they wanted to work Saturday to get more accomplished so all day we continued to hear the noise of the workers. Louise decided to stay on this side of the lake to hang out with us one last night and we were so excited because we have been missing her. It’s so cute! It was a lot of fun. The Irish group sang a couple of songs with the people a. After lunch I walked to ...

The African Dream: ~Leaving Ghana~

http://theafricandream-hollie.blogspot.com/2008/08/leaving-ghana.html

Sunday, August 17, 2008. I was just about to get into the Patrol this morning when I see my friend YaYa walking towards me telling me ‘wait for me, wait for me’. We walked and walked, visited with people and just enjoyed each others company before having to separate. When we got home they shared presents with me that they had picked up for me in the market and each one was special to me in a way and I will always hold them dear to my heart. Draw me close to You. Never let me go. I lay it all down...Think...

Friday, June 27, 2008. Ok so I thought it would be really fun to fill you in on the people that fill up my days and make me laugh daily here in Ghana. God has blessed me completely in putting all of these people in my life at this time. They are amazing! The three of us recognize how different we are but that it is such a God thing that we have been brought together for such a time as this. Isaac is the boat driver at the clinic and I hear him saying out loud ‘Aquia’, which is my African name...The chief...

The African Dream: Visiting the local villages

http://theafricandream-hollie.blogspot.com/2008/07/dompa.html

Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Visiting the local villages. We travelled a very bumpy road to a beautiful village a quarter of the way around the lake. When we arrived everyone was sitting in the town square with all the chiefs and elders there and the Obrunis sitting opposite them. We greeted them and received the nice gift of a sheep. The time in Dompa was awesome though and we announced that we wanted to do a community service there Sunday so I know that will be a blast. It was impressive how many people cam...

An urban (hectic?!) life of an interior designer | who lurve to eat, cooking, travelling, shopping, eat again…etc

Life of an interior designer. Who lurve to eat, cooking, travelling, shopping, eat again…etc. Baked salmon and potatoes with carrot and broccoli side dish. I’ve been so excited to get my hand on my new oven. So, as you can guess my groceries shopping list will be extra RM this month. That included salmon cut, which I always loved since I first had them at Ikea. Only people closed to me know i don’t eat fish other than mom’s home cooked, well, at least before I had that amazing salmon). After I the potatoe...

Tv, film, books, ramblings and rants, and lots of cheese. Summer Round-Up: Corruption and Breakfast. Let’s start my summer TV round-up at home, with the BBC’s new drama,. Corruption; police; Line of Duty. Left me turning away from the TV. Or rather the computer screen, as sadly I have no tv 😦. So enjoy the next few posts, which give a ‘quick’ summary of my summer of TV. EDIT: I wrote this and the next few posts on the train to London. And then I realised how terrible my phone typing was.
