Vegetarian Split Pea Soup. A split pea soup recipe without bacon or ham. This is one of my favorite soups and you do not usually find a vegetarian-friendly version. This may be time consuming, but it absolutely suitable for this chilly, rainy day. Vegetarian Split Pea Soup. 1 bag (12 ounces) dried split green peas. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 2 stalks celery, diced. 2 carrots, diced. 1 medium yellow onion, diced. 1 teaspoon dried thyme.
