Celebrate Simple: March 2015
http://cherylbastian.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Using the Simple to Teach the Profound. Monday, March 23, 2015. Natural Learning, Intentionally - Part II. Intentional. It is my mantra, whether teaching my littles (and bigs) or embracing life. Intentionality has served me (and my family) well. How can I be intentional this minute to make a difference in the minutes yet to come? The word intentional means (back to definitions):. From the 1957 Webster's New 20th Century dictionary, intentional was defined as. Having to do with intention or purpose. Paint...
Celebrate Simple: From Interest to Credit
http://cherylbastian.blogspot.com/2013/07/from-interest-to-credit.html
Using the Simple to Teach the Profound. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. From Interest to Credit. Course development and content varies from high school to high school. The same is true from home school to home school. When developing a high school course for a student, a parent educator can access many resources as guides for content. This year, due to the talent and interest of one our children, we will be developing a high school drawing and painting class. Drawing and painting? Use of tools and materials, a...
Celebrate Simple: The Cumulative Folder: Organizing High School Records
http://cherylbastian.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-cumulative-folder-organizing-high.html
Using the Simple to Teach the Profound. Monday, July 29, 2013. The Cumulative Folder: Organizing High School Records. Your high schooler has a unique story. The cumulative folder. Records we keep. Over the last several weeks as we have been walking with parents through home education annual evaluations, we have visited with many high school parents, or parents just about to embark on the high school journey. Each family choosing interesting teaching options, different curriculum. There are many ways to k...
Celebrate Simple: Natural Learning, Intentionally - Part I
http://cherylbastian.blogspot.com/2015/03/natural-learning-intentionally-part-i.html
Using the Simple to Teach the Profound. Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Natural Learning, Intentionally - Part I. Definitions change. New editions dictionaries printed, new words added. In with the new, out with the old. I know it's cliche. But it is true (even if I personally prefer an older definition). In twenty years of home education definitions have changed. Well, maybe not changed, perhaps understood and implemented differently. With lots of cheering on the sidelines. Don't get me wrong, there is truth...
Celebrate Simple: Natural Learning, Intentionally: High School- Part III- Cum Folders, Home Education Style
http://cherylbastian.blogspot.com/2015/05/natural-learning-intentionally-high.html
Using the Simple to Teach the Profound. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Natural Learning, Intentionally: High School- Part III- Cum Folders, Home Education Style. Intentionality has paid off in the high school years. Thankfully, I realized early in my son's eighth grade year I would play the role of guidance counselor for my homeschooled high schooler. Meaning? I would be the liaison between school (us! Me, the keeper of the "cum folder", the folder about which school officials threaten and gloat, at least in the...

Start Well In Your Home School: A Home School Day with Just One Child
http://startwellhomeschool.blogspot.com/2014/09/a-home-school-day-with-just-one-child.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. A Home School Day with Just One Child. This year, as I mentioned in my last post, My Ideal Plan for Elementary Home Education. I am only home schooling one child, my nine year old daughter Melody, who is in third grade. While home schooling and juggling my other responsibilities is still quite a challenge, I have to say it is so much less complicated with only one to teach. And now we are working on the Early Colonial Era and weather. We have a lot of books on our own shel...

Blessed With Arrows: May 2014
http://blessedwitharrows.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 30, 2014. My husband for the past two years has requested printed pictures for the family album as his only birthday present. In the age of selfies and digital media the printed picture seems to becoming antiquated! Here is a sampling of what I printed for Chase and added to the current family album! These are not in any kind of order. Chloe playing dress up. Both boys played on the same team again this year. Sweetest picture of the year. Lily in swim lessons last summer. Spoon on nose hijinks.

Blessed With Arrows: January 2013
http://blessedwitharrows.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 2, 2013. It's now 2013 and I was not quite ready for 2012 to end. It was so much fun and involved so much change! We moved to a new house with more room for our growing quiver. We had our first new years eve here one year ago amidst the moving boxes. Okay so this picture is of the fireworks we used to celebrate 2012 but it works! We added a new baby, Chloe, to our family. We got to travel some. We homeschooled this year without a co-op group. So my motto for 2013 is Forward! This is wh...

Blessed With Arrows: September 2012
http://blessedwitharrows.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 15, 2012. Blueprints for Character Training. There is no doubt that parenting is a blessing from God. Children themselves, no matter how they arrive in our arms, are gifts from the Lord. Psalm 127 is an encouragement, “Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.’. Please continue reading my first published article. Found in Becoming Magazine! Oh, yes,...

Using the Simple to Teach the Profound. Thursday, October 8, 2015. 3 Things They CAN Do On Their Own. Doing on their own is a glorious moment for parents and children. Parents welcome the growing independence (well, for the most part) and children gain confidence and a sense of contribution. With all their distinctive characteristics, there are wonderful ways these littles could be independent, work on their own, with some guidance and forethought from us. Tooth brushing, putting dirty dinner plate in th...
