A hint of spring here or there, but for the most part winter has still had us in its grip. Two Thursdays in a row we had snow; the first round was seriously a blizzard - the morning after was the worst commute we've had all winter. And yet somehow the wait for Spring has felt okay this year. One of us for sure has still been practically jumping for joy each time it snows.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011. This past weekend we took a trip to WI Dells with my family; 6 adults 3 kids in a 3-bedroom suite for two nights. A little getaway, but lots of fun. Hours of swimming and playing with cousins. These two are only a year apart and have been tending to stick together in recent weeks:. So awesome to see them just chatting with each other, each of them in turn running up to the other and grabbing a hand, excitedly wanting to bring her over to something new and fun. Next on my list.

Thursday, July 21, 2011. Sweet Potatoes, Barley.and a New Blog. While I was making a sweet potato and barley salad tonight Ada decided she wanted to work with me in the "real kitchen". She took a few seconds to watch what I was doing, went over to her play kitchen to get her supplies, then climbed up on her stool and got right to work. So glad I stopped to take a picture; it's already a favorite. In other news - I have a new blog. Tuesday, July 5, 2011. After lunch the kids ran through the sprinkler.

I climbed through the kale yesterday to check on the Brussels sprouts, and see if they had enough water, and was delighted to see that the cucumber plant has tiny fruit. I only have one plant, we don’t eat that many, but I do enjoy having an old- fashioned salad of them when it’s hot in the summertime. It’s just as well. The garden is overgrown as it is. And then this year we’ve had SUMMER! July 16, 2013. It made me feel quite independent.
