Mechanics are managing to keep them all alive with a blend of ingenuity available parts. Sometimes these cars end up with carburetors of Soviet trucks, and hydraulic brakes are pumped full of home-brew brake fluid. These tough rigs would run long after their workdays were done. I owned a `59 A-100. In the early 1990s that was completely reliable until an overloaded bed of firewood snapped an axle in a rough snowy mountain pass. I miss that old International even today. Thanks to Jana Robertson.
