Culinary adventures of the local and organic! Me and My CohortZ. Where does your food come from? Where does your food come from? Recently while driving towards Myrtle Beach for a vacation, we had the "privilege" of driving past the meat packing plant in NC. It was absolutely enormous! It went on for miles in every direction. It was amazing, in a sad way. I have to say that I was fighting back a few tears as I thought about what took place on that property. Their company motto is that they are "a global f...

Friday, February 29, 2008. Daring Bakers: The 18 page Recipe. Yep, you read that correctly. Once printed, this recipe was 18 pages long! It had 13 steps and took 12 hours for me to produce the two lovely loaves you see above. At first, I thought our hostesses (hostessi? Had lost their minds. However, what's not to like about trying something challenging on for size - particularly if it's a Julia Child recipe! I didn't join the Daring Bakers for nothin'! Cept, if you've come from the Daring Bakers Blogroll.

Culinary adventures of the local and organic! Me and My CohortZ. Where does your food come from? Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Haute Dog and Bunny Hay. We took a trip out to western Loudoun County today to pick up some inexpensive fresh quality hay for our pet bunnies, Hazel and Fiver. While we were in the neighborhood, we decided to stop in for a quick bite at Haute Dog. Its a quaint little place with gourmet hot dogs and sausage sandwiches with a variety of unique toppings. Most of my positive memories abou...

Culinary adventures of the local and organic! Me and My CohortZ. Where does your food come from? Sunday, March 15, 2015. Some great friends of ours surprised my hubby and I to a day of fun recently. First we saw an amazing concert pianist and then we had dinner at a restaurant called Range, which features modern American cuisine by celebrity chef, Bryan Voltaggio. Range is also known for its Chesapeake shellfish at the raw bar and their wood-fired hearth. The first course was a cheese plate, of course!

http://yummayumma.blogspot.com/2015/06/nandos-fail.html
Culinary adventures of the local and organic! Me and My CohortZ. Where does your food come from? Saturday, June 27, 2015. One Loudoun is quickly becoming a cool new hangout area for good food and maybe a movie. One restaurant there is called Nando's Peri Peri. It has African-Portugese cuisine. Sounds pretty unique so of course we had to give it a try. Our chicken.barely a wing and a leg. it didn't even fill the box. Our pathetic sides, again the fries don't even fill the tiny box they came in. Shop local...

Culinary adventures of the local and organic! Me and My CohortZ. Where does your food come from? Wednesday, February 25, 2015. We Buy Fresh and Local, You Eat Well! That is the motto of the Silver Diner restaurant. And from what I can tell, they truly live up to that. Too many times. At any rate, the diner still exists, though rare. Two of our favorite breakfasts to get there are corned beef hash and country fried steak! I usually order mine with eggs-over-easy (one of the few times I don't get scrambled...
