100 TV Shows-#8-Hill Street Blues - Confounding Variable

100 TV Shows-#8-Hill Street Blues. Apr 25th, 2012 at 8:31 PM. I think I started watching around the middle of the second season, when the show was really The Show that people talked about. It may have been right after Daniel J. Travanti appeared on Saturday Night Live, including a Hill Street sketch, which goofed on the running gag of Frank and Joyce being in bed together and getting interrupted by his pager. How much do we miss TV shows with Mike Post theme songs? Dennis Franz scaring the hell out of me...

100 TV Shows-#10, 11, 12-CSI, CSI:NY, CSI:Miami. Apr 28th, 2012 at 4:58 PM. All My CSI:NY Fanfic. As you'll remember from my Twin Peaks entry. I was so deeply traumatized by how that show ended, that I essentially stopped watching "real television.". Nothing but news, animals, gardening, decorating, educational, stand-up tv shows. This requires another digression back to 1985 and a movie called To Live and Die In LA. And especially the beard. Mac/Danny is the second slash pairing I deliberately googled l...

100 TV Shows-#16-The Sopranos. May 8th, 2012 at 1:46 PM. What tends to crack me up about this, is that my father was somewhat prudish when it came to language. If I EVER used a "shit" or "fuck" around the house, I would be told not to talk dirty, so the idea of him sitting and enjoying Tony and the boys and their extremely colorful use of expletives is kind of amusing. Don't even get me started on how much I wanted to smack Janice every single time she was on the screen. Even characters I found fun to wa...

100 TV Shows-#3-Twin Peaks. Apr 18th, 2012 at 8:17 PM. I discussed this a bit in my House Babble for Gut Check, but here it goes again. God, just hearing that Angelo Badalamenti opening theme brings it all back. The Log Lady. The Black Lodge. The owls are not what they seem. Who killed Laura Palmer became the biggest mystery catch-phrase since Who shot JR? I would be betrayed by TV shows I loved again, but never as quickly or quite as brutally. No David Lynch, I shall never forgive you. We watched it whe...

100 TV Shows-#4-Barney Miller. Apr 19th, 2012 at 9:16 PM. Some shows I associate with either one of my parents, but Barney Miller is a show where I know both my parents equally enjoyed it and watched together. Dad loved Hal Linden going back to his days as a Broadway star and Mom really helped me appreciate the subtleties in humor and the more serious moments. I wasn't shipping slash then, but I think in retrospect, the Harris/Dietrich relationship was damn close to "foe-yay.". 13 comments Leave a comment.

100 TV Shows-#2-Hollywood Squares. Apr 17th, 2012 at 8:58 PM. Paul Lynde made me the fag-hag I am today! Watching the clips now on Youtube, I'm getting the same feeling that I get now from the British panel shows like QI and Would I Lie To You, that the celebrities are genuinely having fun, and the the people involved, both the stars and contestants were actually intelligent people. Thank you, Mommy for being home so we could watch it together and thank you Paul. I still miss you. Q Who stays pregnant fo...

100 TV Shows-#21 House MD. May 20th, 2012 at 8:49 PM. Six years of House MD fanfiction. Six years of House Babble. 10 Great House MD moments. (All int he first two seasons, all showing how great the show used to be, and how badly TPTB screwed it up when they started putting in deliberate H/W fanservice.). Wilson: Benadryl might help.
