Chickadee Jubilee: Story Sunday
http://chickadeejubilee.blogspot.com/2014/09/story-sunday.html
Sunday, September 21, 2014. One of my favorite stories to read aloud is Martina, the Beautiful Cockroach. It is a Cuban folktale about a cockroach on her 21st day. Has to choose to give her leg. In marriage:-) Martina's grandmother tells her to use the coffee test on any potential suitor to see their true colors. After we finished reading it, we started to think about how we choose who our closest friends are. I had students come up with a test that they could use to see how people would react to them.

Sunday, January 19, 2014. 160;Rollin Some More. Thought I would share some of the work we have done so far. A place to keep our work. Inside our file, we keep two books. The journal is for any writing, thinking, and ahas we have during our experiments. The data log is for recording our experiment information. Before we could begin our experiments, we had to set some standards so that everyone tested their ramp with the same experiments. That way each outcome had a "fair" chance to win. 160;Five for Friday.

I Love Pushing These Buttons! Friday, July 24, 2015. Five for Friday : Worm Freebie. I have done several things this week that I said I would never do. The first thing that I was never going to do was buy an Erin Condren planner. Planning is not my favorite part of teaching. I am a type B teacher. To check out these planners(and you don't have to be a teacher to find a planner to fit your life style! Using chopsticks to find gummy worms hidden in the rice sensory bin is lots of fun. For a little.and ...

I Love Pushing These Buttons! Wednesday, January 7, 2015. I am linking up with the AMAZING Jessica from Mrs Stanford's Class to share a Hump Day Highlight. With three days under my belt this week, my highlight occurred when an Owlet gave me a huge thrill. We've been reading books and poems about snowmen all week. Today we brainstormed words we would need to use to write directions to help others build a snowman of their own. We used this cute snowman from Digital Bakeshop. To organize our thoughts. I can...

ARTventurous: In A Dark, Dark Wood
http://artventurous.blogspot.com/2012/10/in-dark-dark-wood.html
Wednesday, 3 October 2012. In A Dark, Dark Wood. I wanted to share with you the artwork that inspired me to start a blog. I did this lesson with my Grade One class last year. After displaying it up on the hallway bulletin board I was approached by one of my fellow primary teachers, Sandra Farrell, who asked if she could put it up on her teaching blog. I was so flattered! So I considered the idea of starting my own art blog. Her photos are much more impressive than my 'afterthought' iphone ones! We then a...

Forever in First: July Reads
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2015/08/july-reads.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. My summer reading slowed down a bit in July. Here you go. This one was so-so for me. This book surprised me. I had no idea it was a graphic novel. I really enjoyed this read. There's speculation that there might have been a woman pope back in the day. This is a helpful read for those looking to know more about guided math. This book was great. I feel like I can use literature in a more authentic mathematical way now. I really didn't like this book. Sorry. August 2, 2015 at 7:39 PM.
Forever in First: September 2014
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. I typically do a terrible job of reading as much as I'd like once school starts. I've been determined to fix that. So far, so good. Here are my September reads. I'd highly recommend many of these, so do check them out or put them on your list when you can track down some extra reading time. This one is kind of magical and kept me wondering to the very end. This was one of my favorites of the month. It's so very clever. Links to this post. Saturday, September 27, 2014. I have ...
Forever in First: Teacher!
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2015/08/teacher.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. It seems there are a million things I need to say on the first day of school, but I save only the most important for day one, knowing I'll get to the rest as soon as I can. For sure though, my kids will get the my-name-isn't-teacher talk. Granted, this isn't a life or death issue, but learning names is a life skill. And seriously, no matter how young, I think students should be expected to use their teacher's name. Hearing the word "Teacher! PS Anyone else annoyed by this?
