bibliotonic: Short Story Month
http://bibliotonic.blogspot.com/2015/05/short-story-month.html
Friday, May 01, 2015. May is, apparently, Short Story Month. According to the sponsor, StoryADay.org, we are in the second golden age of the short story. This is exciting news to me because I love short stories! From an impressionable reading age, I dug short stories. "Tale of the Magi" caught my attention when I was 14, and "The Veldt" knocked my socks off in Honors American Studies my junior year of high school. In addition to my shelves, the following websites have links to stories, free and not:.

Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Eat, Pray, Love. Author Elizabeth Gilbert was featured in the New York Times Book Review. Recently. She participated in the "By the Book" interview, which is my favorite new(ish) column that explores the reading habits of popular authors. The entire interview can be found here. But this was my favorite part:. NYTBR: What is your ideal reading experience? Do you prefer a book that makes you laugh or makes you cry? One that teaches you something or one that distracts you? 24 Redep...

bibliotonic: August 2011

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Filling up the tank before school starts! I read six books this month. Tolstoy and the Purple Chair (Nina Sankovitch). Author Nina Sankovitch spends a year reading a book a day. There is something simultaneously self-absorbed and enviable in the premise of her project. I mean, really, who can afford to carve out enough time in the day to read an entire book? Isn't there laundry to do, kids to care for, cans to open for dinner? The Island (Elin Hilderbrand). Impeccably written&...

Taken from yonmei and altariel An, er, interesting - Slightly mythical at the best of times. June 24th, 2003. An, er, interesting result. June 24th, 2003 04:44 am (UTC). Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. Oh but I'm jealous. I do think you should print out that picture and that quote and stick it on your office door. June 24th, 2003 04:51 am (UTC). That was the honest result, too. No retries needed. Sunday, February 17, 2013. Only 50 pages left in Wolf Hall. The end is in sight! I have enjoyed every single word of this well-crafted historical novel, and I marvel at the prospect of two more volumes. Earlier this week I purchased Bring Up the Bodies. In anticipation of diving in soon. Saturday, February 09, 2013. Earlier this week, I sat down for my hour-of-power morning read, but couldn't find Wolf Hall. But with a much more developed writing style. By the end of the day, I found Wolf Hall. 37 The Tr...

I'm sofa king silly. Rambling and random comments about the universe around me, of which I am the sun. Saturday, May 31, 2014. I have not mastered being an adult yet. Links to this post. I'm sofa king silly. Rambling and random comments about the universe around me, of which I am the sun. Monday, June 09, 2014. I spent most of my day feeling despondent. A string of good days is still followed by a bad day or two. Yesterday I could feel the mood settling in. I had spent Saturday night in Amarillo with my boyfriend. It is simple phrases like that last one that make my head itch and my stomach ache. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Kansas, United States. View my complete profile. The Pal...

I'm sofa king silly. Rambling and random comments about the universe around me, of which I am the sun. Thursday, August 23, 2012. I have been reading about Hemminway, again. As a liberal woman with a distaste for overly masculine, domineering men I spend more time defending him than I should. The thing about Hemmingstein is that he is complex. I wonder if we are all this complex or are most of us simple beings? Links to this post. Friday, August 17, 2012. Links to this post. Thursday, August 16, 2012.
