Inverness Chess Club: December 2012
http://invernesschessclub.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
For games and news! Saturday, 22 December 2012. Andrew Newton has had an excellent result in the TAFCA Individual Allegro. In Dundee, he finished on 4½ from 6 games, his performance will be approximately 2050 for the event. I would like to take some credit for this result as Andrew spent many a club night scoring wins against my Philidor Defense which convinced me to play something else! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Inverness Chess Club: January 2013
http://invernesschessclub.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
For games and news! Sunday, 6 January 2013. This is a game played by Luainn against Fritz as a training game. Luainn, like a lot of us here in Inverness, gets very few OTB games and so to get any practice at all there is only online or PC software. Well done to Luainn for continuing to improve and I am sure he will be ready for his first tournament early this year:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Chieftain Hotel,Chess Club Venue. For games and news! Saturday, 11 August 2012. Here are two new games from our internet enthusiast,David Cumming. Both games are well annotated as is normal with David,s games,if you would like to see more games you just need to look at some of the older posts. Sunday, 5 August 2012. The club has reached a stage now where we would like to introduce more coaching and tournaments. Our reason for not doing so is because we have so few adults who can commit to attending/coaching on a regular basis. If anyone ...

http://invernesschessclub.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
For games and news! Sunday, 21 April 2013. Inverness could play host to a weekend Chess Congress with suggested dates being the end of October, start of November. We have been asked to gauge the viability of staging this event by asking for feedback from anyone who might be interested in this tournament. It would be appreciated if you could PM me on the clubs Facebook page or through the clubs website. It is credit to the organiser for trying to have this Congress here so I hope his efforts are rewarded.

For games and news! Tuesday, 23 October 2012. I am pleased to say that Jan has sent me 3 of his games from Dundee. This was Jan,s first OTB tournament and he was very unsure how he would cope with the longer time controls, as previously stated, it didn't bother him at all. The games were never going to be draws! I have also added another game from our Internet Champ! I hope you enjoy the games as much as I did:. Monday, 15 October 2012. As promised, here is a game from the recent Dundee Minor tournament.

From patzer to player: September 2013

From patzer to player. This blog is to keep me focused on my objective. Which is to become a good club player rather than the mediocre one I am now. Sunday, 15 September 2013. Inverness Minor 2013 R5 - Sicilian Defence. Ian Hope (pic by Andy Howie). Around move 18 I went to the toilet. I bumped into an amiable Glaswegian I had spoken to the day before who was playing in the same section. The usual pleasantries ensued, how's your game going etc. Him: How are you getting on? Him: Who are you playing? In Ro...
