STARS NOT CROSSES: October 2013
http://starsnotcrosses.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 29 October 2013. Hedges, especially when they are stripped of leaves, have long held a fascination for me. The area of Wales where we stayed last week was full of them, and here are just a few of the many pictures I took. I've been making some simple monoprints using the 6" gelli plate. My step grand-daughters were making prints using my A4 gelli plate, so I simple used the colours they were using. Monday, 7 October 2013. Module 3 Chapter 5. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). STARS NOT CROSSES: Module 3 Chapter 9 Resolved sample
http://starsnotcrosses.blogspot.com/2015/06/module-3-chapter-9-resolved-sample.html
Monday, 29 June 2015. Module 3 Chapter 9 Resolved sample. I've made heavy weather of this chapter, indeed I've found this whole module a struggle - I was never happy with my spiral drawings in the early part of module and it's just gone on from there! I've just been reading Judith Aylett's blog. That's what I did at the end of my last post, and it didn't take me long to realise that neither of the two lower spirals that I printed on using a thermofax screen were working - despite the fact that I had like...

STARS NOT CROSSES: Chapter 9 part 2
http://starsnotcrosses.blogspot.com/2015/03/chapter-9-part-2.html
Tuesday, 3 March 2015. Chapter 9 part 2. It's good to be working on this again, but I need some feedback! I think this is all fairly self explanatory, but one or two additional points:. I think the shape of the large left hand spiral needs refining which I would do as I couch the cord down. I think it would benefit from the internal spaces being bigger. I quite like the shadowy quality it has. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And Then We Set It On Fire. What in the world do artists think of us.

STARS NOT CROSSES: May 2015
http://starsnotcrosses.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 26 May 2015. Module 3 Chapter 9 continued. Sian, as always, offers helpful and thought provoking comments - the most thought provoking of which was to cut the piece up, as I had done on some of my sketchbook pages at the beginning of the Chapter. Cutting up your sample piece without a clear idea of what you are going to do is a bit daunting, so I decided to make some photocopies and cut them up first! I made 4 versions. Version 4 : Same methods and a sort of distillation of things! Deciding how ...

STARS NOT CROSSES: Module 3 Chapter 9
http://starsnotcrosses.blogspot.com/2015/02/module-3-chapter-9.html
Tuesday, 24 February 2015. Module 3 Chapter 9. It's such a long time since I have done any work on this chapter, that to get started, I have decided to write up everything I have done so far, see what still needs to be done, and then set myself a target for completing it. This module calls for a resolved sample based on spirals, using at least two techniques from this module as well as techniques from the previous modules. I was really pleased with how free it was, and how interesting the overlapping mar...

StitchEd: Module 1. Chapter 2: Coloured Paper
http://stitched-creations.blogspot.com/2014/01/chapter-2-coloured-paper.html
Friday, 24 January 2014. Module 1. Chapter 2: Coloured Paper. Obtaining a collection of papers and colouring them with brusho dyes was an exciting exercise. I chose to use the complementary colours blue/orange, as I already had a collection of various fabrics and threads in this colour scheme, from a previous project that I had work on, in an embroidery group I belonged to. Printing onto Coloured Paper. Inspired by the work of Hiliary Beattie. I decided to make to some stamps using mount board and foam&#...
