Monday, July 18, 2011. Little things can help. High energy kids are usually high *volume* as well: ear protectors, ear plugs and even headphones can help take the edge out of the high energy soundtrack. All of these "noise reducers" filter out the volume, but still allow the wearer to hear, so they can talk and hear requests and such. Taking the edge off helps me focus and accept that this is who they are, just as I am tall. Monday, January 24, 2011. Just like this picture, but the opening for the ladder...

childnova: January 2011

http://childnova.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 24, 2011. I've been talking about doing this (blog) for a while, and was inspired by my youngest, today. It is winter here in Ohio, and not as easy to zip outside and use some of that built-up energy. We thought about trampoline, but as last night was below zero, Storm nixed that idea. He was tempted by the bedroom, though. Dave modified the plywood that Wyl's mattress lay on, drilling/cutting holes just big enough for the legs of the loft bed to drop down into. The bedroom has become a f...

AND The Kitchen Sink!: July 2011

http://and-the-kitchen-sink.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

AND The Kitchen Sink! Welcome to the meanderings of our unschooling journey, my tangents and musings and life in general. Friday, July 29. I started discussing this on Facebook, then realized my kids both have accounts and could possibly run across what I was writing! If they know about my blog, they don't know how to get to it. I think. Them all about things - especially legendary things like Santa, TF, Harry Potter and Hogwarts, Thor, etc. I like to answer questions they have with "What do you. Again, ...

AND The Kitchen Sink! Welcome to the meanderings of our unschooling journey, my tangents and musings and life in general. Sunday, May 10. Storm has been asking to do things this week-where has he gotten the idea? I'm not sure. He asked to get me flowers for Mother's Day when we were at Mustard Seed. He asked to buy me a card when we were at Target-but not with me. Which makes it tough when Dave's out of town. I got a fistful of dandelions. Friday, May 8. Why does a little hint that it *is* sometimes poss...

AND The Kitchen Sink! Welcome to the meanderings of our unschooling journey, my tangents and musings and life in general. Thursday, January 31. 8220;Friends” - Catching Up on the Past Half Year - Part 2. There are a few things I’d like to address in this post. I thought. As time passed and I got to know them more deeply, I realized that they were, indeed, “real”. It seemed like a homecoming, like things I’d hardened my heart to long ago, *were* actually *right*! Sometimes, you can command and get results that look like respect, but if it is not genuinely earned, it isn’t really respect. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). There was an error in this gadget.

AND The Kitchen Sink! Welcome to the meanderings of our unschooling journey, my tangents and musings and life in general. Wednesday, September 19. Warning: sad stuff contained herein. I don't usually write sad stuff, so I wanted to warn those who don't do sad, are not in the place today for sad or are strongly moved by sad things. Today might not be a good day to read, here. Now that the hard stuff is over, let's get on to Zach's life. Like I said, it was winter and cold. Extra water, too! And on and on&...

AND The Kitchen Sink! Welcome to the meanderings of our unschooling journey, my tangents and musings and life in general. Tuesday, July 27. I am *loving* this impromptu blog carnival! Fun stuff - thanks, Ronnie! I am that mom that gets the looks at the playgrounds and playplaces from other moms. I am that mom who always seems to be smiling in the midst of mayhem and ruckus while other moms with leery looks guide their children wide around our "circle of influence".
