Lest it seem that all is gloom and doom around here, it's time for a long overdue installment of "Listening in Roslindale," covering my listening (or at least most of it) for September and October. Perhaps an even more mixed bag than usual: blues, jazz (and especially jazz piano), classic R&B and its descendants, African music, classic early country, Jewish music, and the beginning of a Schubert orgy. Even (. Gasp ) some Mozart. Interesting, but lacking in variety. East Africa: Witchcraft and Ritual Music.

The Return of the Blog. My computer is now repaired, and this blog has officially returned from technological Purgatory. The NVIDIA graphics processor failed on my current computer, a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. This is a known issue for MacBook Pros of my computer's vintage (roughly the first half of 2008). To thank the anonymous skiers who were so wonderfully kind to me yesterday. All day, individuals helped me as they saw me struggle to keep monkey engaged, carrying all the gear.
