Child's Play

An Adventure in children's literature. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Final Post: Blog Amnesty Day. This will be last blog post for Children's Literature, and I must say: it's been a trip. I thought I had an idea of what I was getting into when I signed up for the class, but I soon found that I was launching myself into a different world. I really enjoyed the way this class has opened my eyes to how I experience children's literature. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. I thought he explored the idea of connecting with...

Child's Play: So...I Kinda Want A Daemon Too...

http://www.childsplaytcu.blogspot.com/2010/02/soi-kinda-want-daemon-too.html

An Adventure in children's literature. Tuesday, February 2, 2010. SoI Kinda Want A Daemon Too. I am intrigued by the various definitions given to Dust - not only in The Golden Compass, but also in our class discussions. Is it the "God particle"? Is it original sin? I, for one, can not quite settle on an exact definition, but I feel that tells me something about the nature of Dust.It is up to interpretation and can be something different depending on who is viewing it and their intentions of using it.

Child's Play: Thoughts on Spufford

http://www.childsplaytcu.blogspot.com/2010/03/thoughts-on-spufford.html

An Adventure in children's literature. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. I have a confession to make. Sometimes I roll my eyes when I learn that we have to read from Spufford - not that I don't like what he has to say.it's just that sometimes takes his time in saying it. I suppose this week I will be more conscious of how I read and how I identify with characters as I absorb them into my own version of life. I think that is why so many of the sources for my group's annotated bibiliography said it was import...

Child's Play: More of the Moorchild!

http://www.childsplaytcu.blogspot.com/2010/02/more-of-moorchild.html

An Adventure in children's literature. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. More of the Moorchild! February 23, 2010 at 6:50 PM. Saaski is a much more realistic character in terms of how she feels about being different. I think we would all want to have Pippis tenacious confidence, but it is inhuman to be so impermeable! Saaski feels sadness, pain, joy, and love just like any reader does. I, like you, could relate to her more than to Pippi in many ways. I did always want a monkey, though. I agree with you that Pi...

Child's Play: January 2010

http://www.childsplaytcu.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

An Adventure in children's literature. Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Once upon a time in children's lit. My favorite book as a kid was probably Ella Enchanted. My best friend and I used to talk about it all the time, comparing ourselves to the main character and rereading it ever few months when we felt like a good cheering up. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). An Adventure in children's literature. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. More of the Moorchild! Tuesday, February 2, 2010. SoI Kinda Want A Daemon Too. I am intrigued by the various definitions given to Dust - not only in The Golden Compass, but also in our class discussions. Is it the "God particle"? Is it original sin? With that said, I think that Pullman presents an interesting message that I think resonates with the reader and gets him or her thinking about self-knowledge. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
