Guatemala has highest rate of insurance claims. A report from Fitch Ratings indicates that Guatemala reported the highest rate of insurance claims with 67.9% in the first half of 2009, representing a 3.3% growth on the previous year. Costa Rica reported a 62.9% rate of insurance claims, El Salvador's rate rose from 51.3% to 52%, whereas Honduras and Nicaragua saw a fall in insurance claims with their respective rates standing at 51.8% and 49%. Guatemala Eegsa To Spend $11.8 Mln on Grid Expansion by End-2007. Guatemalan electricity distributor Empresa Electrica de Guatemala S.A. (Eegsa), run by Spanish utility Iberdrola, plans to invest over 90 mln Guatemala quetzals ($11.8 mln/7.98 mln euro) to upgrade its grid system in the southern part of the country by the end of 2007, local media reported on November 21, 2007. The company attracted between 35,000 and 40,000 new customers so far in 2007. At present it has more than 800,000 clients.
