The latest news from Chimwemwe Children's Centre. How can you help? Friday, 30 September 2011. Grant from Kitchen Table Charities Trust. We are delighted to report that the Kitchen Table Charities Trust's Grants Committee has approved a grant of £6,500 towards the cost of building a rehabilitation and training centre for orphans and other vulnerable children at Manasseh Township, Blantyre. The grant will enable Chimwemwe Children's Centre to commence building before the Malawian wet season.

How can you help? There are a number of people currently helping Chimwemwe. Mac and Rhodrick are the two project managers who not only work with the children and communities on a daily basis, but who are also responsible for fund-raising and general day-to-day running of Chimwemwe. In addition, there are several other volunteers who give up their spare time to work with the children and communities whenever possible. Rhodrick is a trained accountant and is studying for his Masters in Project Management.

This is a recently developed project initially to promote friendship,goodwill and cultural tolerance between Adelaide SA and the village of Makuluni of the Mulanje district of Malawi. The motto 'small steps,big dreams,giant feats' hopefully conveys the desire of those involved to highlight the importance of doing 'something' rather than 'nothing', however small (and at times clumsy)the beginnings. It is ultimately about dedication to making the world a better, more socially just society. I am so proud!
