Monday, May 6, 2013. Portland for the Weekend. I had an impromptu trip to Portland this past weekend to visit my mama, John and little Stelly Bean. Fig old fashioned with balsamic, orange and maple from The Kitchn. The salad of the month from Food and Wine. Shredded chicken tacos with black bean, corn, avocado and tomato salsa. Slow-cooked pulled pork sandwiches with eastern North Carolina barbecue sauce and simple slaw and a side of Southern caviar. Slow Cooker Pulled Pork. 1 TBS Cajun seasoning.

Sunday, November 16, 2014. Heirloom Tomato and Avocado Toast with Fried Egg. This Saturday my mom came to stay with me for a "Moms Night Out." My friend Alanna invited her mom and we went out to an unconventional dinner. There were cocktails, transvestite dance performances, Asian tapas and a few body shots (that we witnessed, not participated in). It was a blast, and I highly recommend AsiaSF if you're in the bachelorette and/or birthday party planning game. 2 slices sourdough bread. 1/2 avocado, sliced.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Almond Butter, Strawberry Jelly and Banana Omelet. Oh, hello 2014. How did you sneak up on me like this? One minute I’m making Friendsgiving dinner, then I turn around and Bachelor is back and I have to buy a new calendar. Why not kick off the new year on The Plate with a horrifying, albeit delicious meal: pb&j&b omelet. Makes him. So, for Juan Pablo’s big night, Alanna brought the wine and I made these omelets. We both loved them. Splash milk or water.

Tonight I was able to attend Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA)’s Dining by Design, featuring dining table exhibits created by design industries (furniture manufacturers, interior design firms, commercial design, construction, etc.). The tables were completely outside the box. I especially liked the one my company created with a commercial design firm and construction company:. However, the other tables were pretty amazing…. Friday, September 27, 2013. Mussels in Butter, Wine and Red Pepper Flakes with Toasted Baguette. Nope, no salad. Kudos to Kristian on a delicious meal. Apparently it isn’t hard to make mussels, though I’ve never made them myself. The scrubbing/debearding/alive or dead mysteries have kept me away. But here goes Kristian, makin’ it look easy…. 5 pounds mussels (kept chilled, but not covered – or they suffocate). 4 sticks of butter. 1/3 cup red or white wine. 4-5 leaves basil, torn. Crushed red pepper flakes.
