原名「半線」，係早期為 巴布薩. 65288;BABUZA）平埔族半線社居地。 65292;初期縣治四周種植剌竹為城，爾後逐年填土、燒磚而改築成正規城池，彰化建縣至今已屆滿 283 年歷史。 1684年置台灣府，以下設台灣縣、鳳山縣、諸羅縣等共一府三縣，彰化一帶隸屬諸羅縣，當時已有半線庄、半線堡建置，因此，彰化地名早期亦被稱為「諸羅半線」。 清雍正元年，在台灣府的朱一貴事件後，清廷為鞏固其統治，從諸羅縣將虎尾溪以北、大甲溪以南設縣治，為考據其縣名由來，在福建巡撫王紹蘭之彰化縣城碑記中：「實獲眾心，保城、保民，彰聖天子丕昌海隅之化歟」，取自「顯彰皇化」的意義。 訂閱： 文章 (Atom).
