The Friendly IT guy. St George Barn Quilt Trail. September 20, 2014. Just in time for the Apple Harvest in St. George we are proud to launch the St. George Barn Quilt Trail’s website. The St. George Barn Quilt community was looking for a website to help people find their awesome barn quilts. The St George Barn Quilt Trail is the lasting legacy of the St George Bi-Centennial celebrations during 2014. The preparation for the Trail began with an idea in July 2013! A map of South Dumfries Township in 1875, from the Brant County Atlas, shows a tremendous number of orchards on area farms. The majority of these plantings were for farm use; a supply of apples for the family and processed apples products throughout the year! The garden was originally located on Beverley St beside the Bank of Montreal. The garden was named after Joseph Smith, an award-winning lily grower and hybridizer who lived in St George. The members of the St George Garden Club, plant and tend to the gardens. At the time of the Festival they sell potted lilies.
