Il 28 dicembre del 1865 Giuseppe e Valentino Martina, distintisi come conduttori di cottimi nei lavori del parco ferroviario della Meridionale, si aggiudicano all’asta per 551 fiorini il "Ronco di S.Bartolomeo", un fondo in Chiusaforte di proprietà della fabbriceria parrocchiale comprendente una casa appena costruita, e ne perfezionano l'acquisto il successivo 5 febbraio del 1866 avviando così l’attività della locanda dei fratelli Martina. Giuseppe Martina fu Giuseppe (1816-1885).

RADUNO ANNUALE DI AUTO D'EPOCA. Tra il 1948 e il 1954 Chiusaforte e la Val Raccolana erano teatro della celebre " Corsa automobilistica internazionale in salita Chiusaforte-Sella Nevea. Autovetture storiche come la Lancia Aurelia B20, l'Alfa Romeo 1900 TI, la Fiat 8V, fino alla Ferrari 166, si sfidavano lungo i 17 chilometri e 400 metri del tracciato ancora non asfaltato che da Chiusaforte porta a Sella Nevea.
