Our alpacas and products - click on the link to view. Alpacas come in 22 basic colours from white through to black. The fibre is lightweight, warm and incredibly soft. It also carries a beautiful natural sheen. It has less prickle factor than most other fibre producing animals. The fibre is generally stronger than merino wool and therefore is more abrasive resistant. Alpacas are shorn annually, generally on mid to late October. They produce on average 2-3 kgs per animal. Specialising in black alpacas. Chloden Alpacas are located in the Hunua / Drury ranges, only 50 kilometres south of the Auckland CBD. We are a 'boutique' alpaca breeder. Specialising in breeding black huacaya alpaca on a small lifestyle block. Our aim is to improve the quality of our black herd through continued focus on a good breeding program. Our long term goal is on improvement in the quality of both the animal and the fineness of the fleece. A member of Alpaca Association New Zealand (AANZ).
