A Day in the Life. In the late 1960's, there was a growing need for support services for adults with mental illness in the community. In Seattle, Capitol Hill Methodist Church addressed that need by opening a lounge in their building for former patients of psychiatric institutions. This was the beginning of Community House. In 1986, the state of Washington. Community House provides over 150 units of agency owned and operated housing for our clients. 2009 - 2015 Community House Mental Health Agency.

A Day in the Life. A Day in a Life. Community House offers many jobs to clients, whether for a day or on salary. Here, a client is completing one of the daily house jobs for a little extra money. A client meets with her case manager for services like counseling, paperwork, housing, transportation, and medication. Here a client and staff help serve daily lunch to clients. At 9:00 am each day, our staff gather for a morning meeting to discuss. Client and administrative issues.

A Day in the Life. Volunteers are needed to assist with activities, office work, house maintenance, and to serve on the Board of Directors (see Board Members tab). Donations of money, food, clothing, holiday gifts, furniture, toiletries, food certificates, tickets to sports and cultural events are always welcomed and put to good use for the house members. All donations are tax deductible. Grants for general operating costs, capital expenses, and special projects.
