Monday, July 07, 2014. Challenge Roth Training: Week 24. 2 weeks to go. Swim: 3. 8700m, 3hr 52min. Bike: 3. 8hrs 9min, Saturday Ride: 91mi. Run: 2. 22.5mi, 4hr 14min. Strength: 0. 0min. Total time: 16hrs 15min. Oh man, this whole week was one big challenge. It was THE week; the pinnacle of our training season, and it was a doozy. Workouts were long and energy reserves were low, so every session was just a lesson in powering through (which was the point). Knocked it all out. 1/10/17, 4:53 PM.

Afterburners and Camp Fires. Saturday, May 30, 2009. If you're ever looking for a good way to get everyone from a local town to come out to your hotel parking lot, park one of these out front. These are the Tornado Intercept Vehicles, TIV1 and TIV2, made famous on the Discovery Channel show "Stormchasers" and yes, they're part of our VORTEX armada. The guy that drives them is pretty cool, he let Kate drive TIV1 around the parking lot the morning we were in Wichita a few weeks back. Sights from the road.

Afterburners and Camp Fires. Monday, May 24, 2010. We had a fun-filled day of operations today, more so because the large-scale surface winds were sustained at 40 mph at times than because of the storms, which were actually on the marginal side. We figured it was going to be difficult to launch just because it is harder to launch a giant weather balloon in windy conditions, but we had no idea just HOW hard it was going to be until our first attempt. Side of the interstate from where they launched!

So we spent our morning playing frisbee at the National Weather Center, before rolling out to western OK to meet up with the rest of the V2 armada. Hopefully we'll get something to chase in the coming days, although prospects still look rather bleak at the present. Nonetheless, here are some shots of the sounding team "in action.". Afterburners and Camp Fires. Sunday, May 16, 2010. We had quite a busy past week for V2, chasing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, being on standby but not chasing Thursday, then chasing Friday and Saturday! So finally, just like the big weather-maker upstairs, on the seventh day we rested.and did laundry. Anyway, here's a bit of a recap of the last week in pictures.
