Jan'sBlogginBlog: Post Jazz Posting

http://chocaholicjan.blogspot.com/2004/09/post-jazz-posting.html

Tuesday, September 21, 2004. Well here I am playing catch-up with you guys again after my brief defection to the Harvest Jazz ‘n’ Blues last week. (Which was a blast! The Honebein article I found interesting as he cites specific learning environments that have been used successfully, the Lab Design Project and the Socrates Curriculum used by the medical profession. The article dates to 1996 and the DiaSim software used in the Socrates Curriculum was developed in 1988! Getting back to the idea of perspect...

Wednesday, October 20, 2004. Some thoughts on LEGO/logo. Page 124 mentions how the students used heuristic approaches to the problems which speaks to the ability of the learners to devise their own methods of exploration and investigation of the topic. This is obviously one advantage of this type of learning situation. With no exact recipies for learning to follow, learners can construct their own ways of constructing knowledge. Posted by Jan @ 8:00 PM. Thursday, October 07, 2004. Some reasons for the de...

http://blogsphere.blogspot.com/2004/11/rubrics.html

Friday, November 19, 2004. I found our class discussion about rubics quite interesting last night. All the WebQuests that we looked at as examples contain rubrics and most articles you read about WebQuests suggest that rubrics are popular. So you GOTTA put a rubric in ALL WebQuests, right? Rubrics, in my opinion, are another way of presenting objectives and imposing the 'teachers' requirements on the learner. The learner is still 'marked' according to a rubric imposed by the 'teacher'. Why can't the lear...

Monday, November 08, 2004. Audio Recording Our Class Discussions? After our last class and the lively reflection/discussion we had about our PowerPoint games and the new discussions that came to life while we each presented our WebQuest topics, I think it's a shame that our discussion is now a thing of the past. I wish it could be kept alive. This leads me to ask the question "How do you retain those 'ah hah' moments in the classroom? Would it be worthwhile for us to audio-tape our classroom discussions?

From the time I walked into the classroom of ED6225: Designing Constructivist Learning Environments, I was pleasantly suprised when Ellen told us we were expected to determine our own learning goals and outline how we felt we should be evaluated. By doing this, Ellen was passing ownership of her learners learning over to . her learners. Bravo! Creating our own Blogs was a great experience. Ellen gave us the basic informati...
