The Alston Family: February 2016
http://www.thealstonfamily.com/2016/02
Sunday, February 28, 2016. Jon and I had our first date in January 2004. We went to Taco Bell and saw Cheaper by the Dozen in theaters. (You've all heard this story, I'm sure.). Fast forward 12 years, and it is 2016! Typically on our anniversary we re-watch Cheaper by the Dozen and eat Taco Bell, or go see a new movie in theaters and eat fast food of some sort. Just a throwback to our first date in some fashion. But THIS year was number 12! Our family, 12 years after our first date :). Amongst the 12 thi...

The Alston Family: Edwin's Birthday Weekend
http://www.thealstonfamily.com/2017/04/edwins-birthday-weekend.html
Monday, April 3, 2017. Our family had the best time this weekend celebrating Edwin as he turned 3! Jon and I worked together to make Edwin's vest and bowtie for this birthday. Edwin and Kate have been talking about Winnie the Pooh a lot the last couple months, especially since we got to meet Pooh Bear at Disneyland! More on that later). So everything came together wonderfully for a Winnie the Pooh themed birthday celebration! Edwin at the gates of the Sacramento, California temple - age 3. Edwin was incr...

Tuesday, January 31, 2017. A Theme for 2017. The long-awaited theme of this year is. THE YEAR OF LEARNING! 8220;With all thy getting get understanding” (. The acquisition of knowledge or skills through experience, study, or by being taught. With Kate turning 5 this summer (and therefore being school-age) we have thought a lot about what her education (and ours! Would look like going forward for the rest of forever. Our biggest goal right now is to foster and continue promoting that love of learning.

The Alston Family: November 2016
http://www.thealstonfamily.com/2016/11
Tuesday, November 29, 2016. It's no secret that I haven't blogged regularly in months. I thought that while we were on our Year of America road trip I would post every day. HAHA. Not even close. When we got back to Rexburg after three weeks of traveling this Summer it was pretty devastating. Idaho definitely didn't feel like "home". In fact, it didn't feel like much of anything at all. It was really surreal being back in the potato state. This week I will have joy in traveling to Connecticut! But the poi...

The Alston Family: October 2016
http://www.thealstonfamily.com/2016/10
Wednesday, October 12, 2016. On Having It All Together. On Monday I was particularly well put together. The kids were dressed, Kate's hair was braided, I did my own hair and makeup. We went to run errands and both Kate and Wynn fell asleep by the time we parked at the first store. Everyone caught a little nap ;) MUCH NEEDED. She smiled and said that was so good to hear. She does sew and thought the scrap bags sounded great! But more than that she thanked me and said she just needed to keep that in mind: ...

The Alston Family: May 2016
http://www.thealstonfamily.com/2016/05
Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Mountains, May, and Mother's Day. May was full of some amazing moments! For Mother's Day, the kids drew me some exceptionally stellar cards. I love Kate's "jellyfish" family! Jon had the kids list some things that they love about me. It just made me melt! By far the best gifts ever. :). For dinner we had a garlic herb salmon over brown rice with asparagus and homemade artisan bread. It was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture before we ate it all! Mom, Kate, Me, and Wynn:.

The Alston Family: 2017
http://www.thealstonfamily.com/2017
Wednesday, April 5, 2017. This week we got to meet up with our awesome friends, the Jacksons, at Micke Grove park in Lodi. :). Rexburg is a really cool place where you make friends, and then college spits them out and they all move away. We met Jason and Lara our first semester at BYUI in the fall of 2014. They have been married just a few months longer than us, and the guys instantly bonded over their love of film and storytelling. By the next summer, Jason transferred to a school in PA (boo! It's aweso...
